"This is my favorite reel out of all of the reels I have fished with. It has a wonderful sound and a silky-smooth, reliable drag. One of my favorite things about the reel is the drag knob. It's truly easy to grab and operate, and I simply love the feel. Whether I'm tightening or loosening the drag, I always get the feeling that I'm holding on to a solid, superbly-crafted product. I've fished saltwater and freshwater with this reel, and it's been more than capable of handling everything I've thrown at it (including countless nighttime drops on pavement). Plus, it's a beautiful reel. I have the black version, and it's still looking great even after all of the abuse I put it through. I have fished some more expensive reels, but I'll take my trusty Battenkill any day over the competition. Thanks Orvis!"

"I love this reel. I have fished it in all kinds of weather.The drag is so good that you just fish! You never worry about the drag being less than great! This reel is a great reel! It is my go to reel! I use it more than all my other reels! If you want a really good reel at a really good price? This is the one! Hey! Orvis is a top of the line! The reel is a very great looking reel it is just so right for fly fishing! Just buy it! It is that good! Really,just try it."
