who's bed?

"I ordered this in medium for my 48lb Lab/Blue Heeler mix when on sale, and I ordered the least expensive fabric option (forest green). I was a little nervous about the fabric based on cost but my fears were put to rest when I saw the bed in person. The more expensive fabrics must be amazing, because the bed I ordered exceeds expectations. There is a noticable difference in quality from what you would see in any chain pet store or super store, and it's more classic than the really expensive sporty beds I find at pet boutiques. The medium size for my 48lb dog is generous, with room to spread out and roll a bit. She normally sleeps curled up in the nook of the bolster.

So far I feel like it was money very well spent, especially if Orvis' customer service is as good as the claims. I've previously only ordered gifts for my husband and so far have never returned anything. The surrounding bolster is well-stuffed.

My one complaint about the bed is that I CAN feel the floor through the base stuffing. I've seen where Orvis will send extra stuffing and am going to request additional. I also have not yet washed the bed cover. It looks like the surrounding bolster stuffing must be washed with the cover, I think the only removable part is the base, circle shaped stuffing/pillow. My guess is the medium will fit in a standard washing machine, even with the bolster stuffing.

And the most important part, of course, is that my dog does love her bed. She had been bed-less for a good 8 months since a cheaper bed bit the dust, and she is happier in her comfort couch than any previous bed.

Blue Heelers like "caves", they dig holes to relax in while on the land. Our dog, who is a well exercised house dog, always tries to dig a hole in our couch before she settles down. If she isn't already on her new bed and starts couch digging, we now tell her to go to her bed, where she rarely feels the need to dig since it's a little enclosing. With treat rewarding she has quickly adapted to the comfort couch as "her spot" and is very, very happy to have a nice place to nap and sleep.

We currently move it from our bedroom to the livingroom during the day, One day we may invest in an additional comfort couch.

Oh and since I saved money on fabric, I was able to get the bed personalized, which I have to admit I just love. It's real cute seeing my dog's name.
The only real problem with this bed is keeping my 1 year old off of it!!!"

Pure luxury

"My greyhound had surgery on her foot and was sleeping on a large cushion from the outdoor furniture. The patient, Aimee, got her own bed and instantly loved it. She allows her brother, Leo, to join her occassionally. The bolster is stuffed full and the filling doesn't shift. The bolster is a great pillow. I have been in this bed myself and I can tell you it's lofty and comfortable. Expensive, yes, but worth every penny. As a bonus, it looks beautiful in my living room."
