"Smoothest and easiest casting rod I have. I can place a fly within inches of where I need it. It's almost like ESP. Dry flies are delicately placed without spooking fish. I've used this rod in Virginia, Maryland and Arizona. It's truly my favorite rod.

"Here in Mexico, it is not easy to find a good place for fly fishing wild trout, when you do, they are so difficult to catch, that you really need the best rod for the most delicate presentation of small dry flies and nymphs in really small and tight streams.
This rod is like using a magic wand, so smooth so beautiful that you can focus in business.
Try one of this, you will agree with me that is one of the most gorgeous and precise rods you will have."

"I love this rod, the first thing i reach for when heading to Debyshire river Wye to chase free rising wld fish. Lovely full flex action but so much better than the old superfines now they are using T3 technology, much faster recovery and better control. A pleasure to fish with."

"This rod is absolutely a gorgeous piece of work. The unbelievable finish along with the colors really shine on this rod when the sun beams down. I cast like a dream and is light as a feather. I presanally set mine up with a CFO 111 loaded with 5wt double taper wonderline. A 50 ft cast lightly landing on the water is absolutely no problem. The soft tip gives an excellent fight to even the smallest of fish. I absolutely love this rod."

Finding A New Best Friend, October 8, 2007

"Fishing
my favorite trout stream with my favorite "old friend" - an Orvis 7-11
Superfine 4-wt rod was devastating when I slipped and shattered the rod
on a sub-surface rock. When I learned that this model was no longer in
production, I replaced it - very reluctantly - with a new Orvis
Superfine Trout Bum 804-4 ... never suspecting it could approach the
grace and sensitivity of my twenty-year "old friend" - particularly
because the Trout Bum is a 4-piece, not a 2-piece, rod. When I received the new rod I
was mildly impressed by the sleek feel and temper of this green and
gold pretender. Once on the stream - first cast - I fell in love all
over again with the smooth delivery and quick response of this
wonderful new, perfectly balanced partner to my favorite old reel. I
still miss my old 7-11, but, I suspect, not for long - every effortless
cast brings a tight-looped satisfaction I feared I'd be long in
matching - if ever - again."

Best trout rod - Period, October 5, 2007

"I own two Superfine rods. I bought the first one about 6 years ago and it's my favorite rod of any type I own. I bought the second one a couple of years ago so I'd have a backup rod of the same quality, and the new rod was slightly longer/stiffer/more packable.
If you like fishing dry flies or small streams and you don't own one of these rods then you need to buy one today. Absolutely the best dry fly rod and small stream rod on the market. But that's only the recommended use, I've fished a 4 wt in Grand Lake Stream for years for salmon and it handles 20"+ fish just fine. I cast 3"+ streamers with this rod without any trouble, so it's amazing versatile. No, I don't work for Orvis, it's just that good! I've never heard a bad thing from anyone that owns one of these. Everyone loves them."

"Other than my family, flyfishing has been my passion for over 15 years. I recently purchased an Orvis Superfine 4wt. Troutbum rod to use on my home stream "Valley Creek," a wonderful limestone loaded with wild browns. I have been fishing this stream well over 50 days a year with a competitors rod that I thought was just right for both me and this creek. After spending two hours today with my new Orvis Superfine 4 wt. on Valley Creek, I am converted. Whether I was casting 10 feet, or 40 feet, every cast was as delicate as a feather landing on the water. This is truly a wonderful rod. I can't tell you enough how enjoyable my day was using this terriffic fly rod."
