"We bird hunt in Tennessee and the cover here is rough. Lots of briars especially. I have used this vest for three years now and love the easy entry and breathability. I had to have the mesh on the sides of the pockets sewn over with canvas where the briars had ripped them. I had shells falling out soon after wearing this vest. A great improvement would be to replace the mesh on the sides of the pockets with solid canvas. This is the only problem with the vest but it is a problem and would prevent me from buying again as it is too hard to find someone to fix the mesh. Would be great for anyone who does not hunt the rough stuff, but that is where the birds are in this state."

"I was so tired of bending over to get the birds and shells falling out. This vest has the easy entry that wont lose a shell, but still reload as fast as you need. The other guys would tease me about spending this money on a bird bag, but when we get back to the truck and my shirt is not soaked with sweat, I always tell them go to Orvis! Thanks a bunch and dont hesitate to get this bag!"

"DON'T GET ME WRONG THIS IS A GREAT VEST. I HAVE USED MINE FOR 2 YEARS NOW. I LOVE THE SPRING LOADED POCKETS. THE PROBLEMS IS THAT OVER TIME THE MESH FABRIC BREAKS DOWN FROM WEEDS RUBBING AGAINST IT FROM THE OUTSIDE & 20 GA SHELLS RUBBING FROM TNE INSIDE. I WISH THEY WOULD MAKE THE ENTIRE POCKETS OUT OF WAXED CANVAS. I HAD TO SEW A LINER IN BOTH SPRING LOADED POCKETS TO STOP THE POCKET FROM COMING APART. ALSO I AM 6' 3" & I LIKE THE POCKETS TO RIDE @ ABOUT MY WAIST LINE, THIS MAKES IT EASY TO GRAB SHELLS. THE STRAPS ON THE VEST ARE ALMOST TO SHORT. ALSO I HAVE NOTICED THAT ON THE BACK ,WHERE THE STRAPS ARE ATTACHED THAT THIS SHOULD BE MADE A LITTLE STRONGER ,MINE IS STARTING TO COME APART SOME. BUT OVERALL THIS IS A GOOD VEST & I WILL BE USING IT AGAIN THIS YEAR FOR SHARTAILS & HUNS."

Easy access warm weather shooting vest is the best,

"I purchased this vest last year in blaze orange.
I hunt in the Midwest where the weather is kooky - cold one minute and hot the next. I could not stand the fact that all my other shooting vests did not breathe. The liner to keep dirty birds away from the rest of your clothing would also trap in your body heat and moisture.
I wanted this vest because it is open and airy. With only small amount of fabric with excellent support with the wide straps. (I carry 1 - 1-1/2 cases of shells in this vest when I shoot summer sporting clays and though really heavy it does not stress the vest at all.)
Each side pouch has a metal opening system - easy to use and no fumbling to get shells - great for hunting as they close easily and secuely - great for clays as they stay open when you want them too. There are also two outside pockets that safely protect your glasses, gloves, etc - there are shell loops in there too - I don't use them though. Each side pocket holds close to 3 boxes of 20 gauge shells - great for the clays.
I love my vest - I get teased on the clays course as I wear a blaze orange vest - but I am happy - I am keeping cool in the hot sun.
I just might buy this in the darker color as it works so well.

"This is only the second vest I have ever owned in over twenty five years of Upland hunting in New England. The other one was from Orvis too... I expect many years of service from this vest as it is going into it's third season and feels like new."

"Here in the South, bulky / hot vests are not welcome. I've had multiple vests, but this one is the best! Not only cool to wear with the strap system & mesh backwall, but VERY functional. Being minimalistic on construction, it is also very functional to wear on those pheasant hunting trips to the Dakotas and wear over your cold weather gear. The load bearing system is unbeatable. Hunting all day, you carry a lot of equipment, shells, lunch, water, dog training gear, etc. Having the load carried both by your shoulders and the waist belt helps even the load so you can still shoot that last covey rise right @ dusk. My favorite part is the Easy-Entry pockets which stay open to allow time to get everything out of your pockets more effeciently. Everyone knows that multiple times during the day, you are changing your equipment constantly (gloves, retrieving items, etc). Having the pockets open allows for changes on the fly, rather than having to stop and halt the hunt to find your stuff (works great digging those extra shells out on a dove field when the second flight comes over & your gun is empty!). You can open the pocket, reach in & find everything without having to take you eyes off the action! I'm buying a second one just to make sure this item is not dropped out of production for myself & one for my 12 year old son to have when he gets older."

"Great vest for all-weather hunting. I hunt S. Georgia quail mostly and this vest lets me layer underneath for cool January mornings and peel down when its 65 in the afternoon. Also cleans easily with a hose. It's a little stiff to begin with but wears nicely once broken in."
