Hise's Hex

Large mayfly nymphs of the Ephemeridae family, namely the Hexagenia and the Green Drake, are burrowing nymphs. Hise's Hex fly is an excellent representation of a large emerging mayfly working to get to get to the surface. Hise recommends fishing this fly normally under an indicator or stripping it just below the surface. Color, Tan. Fly in size: 6, 8.

"There is a pretty good drake hatch that happens every year on a little stream here in the mountains of NC at about dark. this pattern is perfect for fishing that stream just before the hatch off. You can fish it dead drift on the stream bed or swing it up to the surface and let the trout bust the water trying to cathc the fly before it escapes."

"Hise's hex is deadly on any river or stream that harbors burrowing mayfly nymphs; green drake, Hexagenia, etc.. It will catch many species, particularly trout, steelhead, salmon and smallies."
