"I love the bed, but I got the small for my 17lb Jack Russell since it said up to 25lbs. Unfortunately, it is a little too small for him and he barely fits into the bed. I woul suggest going with a medium or bigger unless you have a very small dog."

A deep sleep!
"We spent ages looking for the perfect bed for our new chocolate lab puppy, lola. When it arrived we were not dissapointed & lola loved it straight away. We followed the washing instructions and the first couple of washes were fine. However after about 3 washes the lovely soft finish soon dissapeared and the fabric became rough & scratchy. Now lola can't sllep on it without a cover over it. We spent that bit extra on the bed as we thought it would be something we could keep for a good few years but after only one year it's spolit!"

"This is the perfect bed for my retired greyhound who sleeps 23.5 hours a day. She tried to stand on it before I had completely unpacked it from the box and then hopped on without any coaxing. She used to cram herself into random corners of the house or sleep caged-in under the dining room table to feel secure but now she nestles her pointy nose into the nooks of the bagel bolster and lounges on the luxurious soft fabric cover all the time. It's still pretty new, but we're pleased because there haven't been any dog prints on my bed since this one arrived for her."

Disappointed me and my dog,
October 24, 2009
By:

"This dog bed is attractive and the cover is super soft. However, the fill has really flattened out with only one year's use. It provides very insufficient support for an older dog. The bolster insert is great, but the center insert is really poor."

My Dog Loves the Bagel Bed!,
October 24, 2009
By:

"We bought this bed put in the living room for my springer spaniel . He has an Orivs Nest in our bedroom that he has loved since he was a pup. We decided to go with something different because he loves to prop his head up (mainly on the arm rest of my couch). I was a little worried when the bed first arrived because like many other people have mentioned it looked to be hard for him to get on. I took some suggestions from other reviewers and unzipped the middle part a little. I finally coaxed him on by getting on the bed myself (which I will have to say was very comfortable!) Once he sat on it a few times, he was hooked! The more he sat on it the more it "settled". He loves this bed and looks so comfortable when he is on it. I have even found him out in the living room in the middle of the night sleeping on it which he would have never done before. He also stays off of my couch in favor of the bagel bed. It has been easy to clean so far and is of great quality. We are very happy with this purchase!"

Not Sure Yet,

"The center portion of this bed is VERY PUFFY. Our new pup has a difficult time climbing into the center so for now he can only sleep on the side. Our other 2 labs are not fond of it either. I'm sure it would be better if the center wasn't so "full""

Better than the armchair
"Yesterday was my husband's birthday, and I gave him the Large Bagel Bed for his dog, Brady. Thanks to the other review writers who advised taking some of the stuffing out of the middle pillow. It was way too puffy. I also prepared the bed for the dog by leaving some of our laundry on it overnight. (Sorry--that's what dogs like.) He was a little hesitant at first, but I think only because the cover was so similar to the living room furniture slipcovers, which we keep shooing him off of. It looks great!"

Complete Comfort,
October 2, 2009
By:

"I read all the reviews and deliberated for ages before buying 2 x medium Bagel beds, for each of my two Black Labs [Ages 9 and 3]. As with every Orvis Dog bed I have purchased, they are exceptional quality and the dogs love them. Having said that, I would recommend that if you have Retriever size dogs, you select the large and not the medium size. My dogs weigh about 35Kgs each so I thought the medium would be fine, and it is when they are curled up, but Labradors also like to lounge around on their backs and the beds are too small for comfort."

Poor old Rudy,

Rudy
"My dog can't jump up onto the bed anymore but I couldn't afford a special bed for my older dog, so when my Mom came to visit, she offered to splurge on one from Orvis. Her dog loves his Orvis bed. I selected the x-large bolstered bagel bed because it looked and sounded like the most comfortable in the whole world! The reviews especially made it sound perfect. I was so excited. When it came, I put it out for him but he wouldn't get on it because of the air. It was like stepping on a baloon. And it was huge too, big enough for a horse, but that didn't bother me so much. Usually dog beds are too small. It was the puffiness. I had to get in myself and flatten it until most of the air went out and then cajoled him to join me, but he left shortly after. I tried letting the air out but it wouldn't stay out. So every time he tries to go on it, it shifts under his weight and he leaves. Poor Rudy. I hear him at night circling on the floor and collapsing on the hard floor - with his poor old bones. It's so sad."

Hardwearing,
July 20, 2009
By:

"We bought this bed for our Labrador Molly. The material is extremely hardwearing, however once we washed it, the bed lost a bit of its original shape with the cushion becoming a bit lumpy. We’re not sure whether this is because the cover has shrunk a little even though we did wash it in cold water as recommended. Molly still loves it though !"

Bagel bed,
July 13, 2009
By:

"Purchased the round bagel bed for our English Spinger Spaniel puppy. She took to the bed right away. Easy to assemble and clean. The smaller bed when out of the box is a little top heavy / tippy, but settles in over time. We have just purchased a larger bed as she is growing out of the smaller bed we got for her as a puppy. Good bed, good material, dog likes it and uses it which is the most important factor."

Good Bed, but too much stuffing,
July 2, 2009
By:
ILOVEMYLAB
"We bought this bed for our chocolate lab and she now loves it...I say "now" because before she wouldn't step foot in it because the stuffing in the inner cushion was too full. I pulled out a lot of it, but it still wasn't enough. I now have 2/3 of the stuffing removed from the cushion and it's now her little heaven! I did save the stuffing in case I need to add some later if it starts to flatten too much. Overall I would recommend this bed, but they put way to much stuffing in it...if it wasn't for that, it would be a perfect bed!"

Complete failure,
June 20, 2009
By:

"Both my dogs big refuse to use this bed despite me trying to encourage them repeatedly. Air seems to escape quickly from the bed every time anyone sits on it. My dogs hate this noise as they do with any of my kids toys that force out air quickly. I have tried leaving the inner and outer zippers opened, but it still makes the noise of air escaping. I tried taking out half of the stuffing, but it still does it. Their two previous Orvis beds were a big hit, but this is useless :("

Orvis contacted this customer and offered regrets that the dogs did not take to the bed or the lofting design of the fill. We did offer an exchange or a refund and made alternate bed suggestions.

Great Bed,
June 11, 2009
By:

"The new bagel bed arrived yesterday. I purchased it for the retriever we adopted three weeks ago. When I opened the box yesterday, however, our German Shorthair abandoned her round Orvis bed and decided the new bed was for her. For the first time in 10 years, she slept entirely through a thunderstorm last night. It was just great! I did remove some of the stuffing and actually left the zipper unzipped just a tiny bit so the air escapes when she climbs on. I am so pleased with the bed. Now I'll probably order another one for Maggie. We've always purchased Orvis beds for our dogs and have never been disappointed. Thanks."

"I bought this bed for my Cocker puppy, he loves to rest his head on something higher than the floor and this seemed the perfect answer. It is!!! He loves it. Had to take out some of the filling, but as its all zipped together this took seconds to do. The colour is excellent and the quality is superb."

Bagel Bed,
May 28, 2009
By:

"I ordered this bed for my lab who has a tough chew bed from Orvis which she absolutely LOVES to lay on and decided it was time to order another kind of bed for her to enjoy also. Well, today the bagel bed arrived I actually tried it out myself and couldn't believe how comfortable it was! After introducing it to my lab she immediately went straight to it ! She loves it so far and I am very pleased with the quality. I got the bed monogramed and I was slightly disappointed that the name was near the bottom because you couldn't really see it very well I wish they would have placed the name closer to the top. I ordered the large bed and my 70 lb. labs fits on it very well!"

"I read a couple of negative reviews about this bed, but knowing that Orvis has such an excellent guarantee, I decided to go ahead an order it. I am very glad that I did, I have a border collie, and his new bed passed the ultimate test the evening it arrived. Chase is absolutely terrified of thunderstorms and normally runs and hides under furniture as soon as he hears the rumbling. As soon as he ran in the door as the storm started, he jumped on his bagel bed and didn't leave it all evening!! We have already started to say "on your bagel" rather than the previous "on your bed"..."
