"A handsome, but very well made vest. The material is such that it has that "lifetime" feel to it.
I very much appreciate Orvis' customer service, and that they leave reviews here in tact; good or bad. I make decisions with these reviews in mind.
So I thought it helpful to add my review and comment on a previous review.
I have not found the problem with the back that has been described in other reviews. I think that Orvis may have responded to the concerns and corrected them. The back of the vest does not hang, nor appear like it is going to.
The vest is also warm and will serve me well throughout Fall and Winter. It can go with office attire, or with jeans and a strongly constructed shirt (see my reviews on some of the Signature shirts).

"I saw the reviews about the lining issues, but bought this vest hoping they were resolved. Upon receiving it, I found the fit and quality to be excellent. It is so comfortable to wear and I love the material. After wearing it for a few days, the back lower hem began to curl up as others have seen. I decided to try using a clothes steamer to flatten it again - this permanently solved the issue and I haven't had any more problems. I can definitely say the issue was not due to poor tailoring and can now recommend the vest (but also recommend that Orvis watch for this since not everyone will have a clothes steamer)"

"Vest is a great weight. I like the material. I looked around long and hard to find a nice casual vest like this. Back lining is definitely too long or sewn incorrectly. When I received it, the lower back was curled up in the bag. My wife tried to iron and straighten it before I used it. I wore the vest once and the bottom of the back has rolled up again. I will return the vest."

"I had been waiting for this product to come back into stock since last April. When I received it, my initial impression was that I was in possession of an outstanding garment. The quality and weight of the cloth was excellent but the product was left down by poor tailoring. There seemed to be excessive lining sewn into the garment at the rear, and this overhung the waistcoat and showed at the bottom. Possibly a one off, I don't know as I did not reorder."
