The green one,

"I purchased the Dartmouth blazer, as I already have the blue hopsack. The hopsack blazer is an excellent product, not only for travelling, but also for general wear, as it always looks crisp and smart.
My only gripe was that I was unable to purchase on the UK site, just not available this side of the big water, fortunately I was able to buy on the US site, the sale reduction was a bonus, as I had to pay for customs duties.
However well worth it, as I tell my friends I did not have to play golf to obtain [the green] one"

Second Time Around,
February 21, 2010
By:
Cliftonfrom Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
"This is my second purchase of this blazer and I love it. I wear it frequently and the first one just wore out, mainly in the lining and inside pockets. It is difficult to find a jacket with three buttons and a center vent. This is the best one I've found and it should last me about 4-5 years. A very practical purchase."

Does what it says,
September 16, 2009

"At the time I bought mine, I owned three other blazers (Burberry, Daks and one tailor made). I still have them but haven't worn them since buying this. It fits very well and the style is exactly right for a blazer, which in my view should not look like the top half of a suit, but should present the next level of formality down. It works well with a tie and smart trousers or looks great with an open-necked button-down shirt. And it stays looking freshly-pressed."

Perfect Blazer,
August 3, 2009
By:
Gonefishinfrom Seattle, WA
"I ordered this blazer about 6 months ago. Great for going casual with a pair of jeans or to dress up with some suit pants or a pair of khakis. This blazer insures no wrinkles on a long business trip or a trip up north to fish. Classical and Functional are key words here and this will compliment any outdoorsman's wardrobe."

Fantastic Blue Blazer,
June 21, 2009
By:

"What a great value. Picked mine up at the Sandestin, FL store a couple months ago. Plenty of pockets including a zippered interior pocket to secure items in a crowd. Looks great paired with jeans for the casual look or sharp business attire when combined with a nice pair of slacks. Versatile use for a very efficient travel wardrobe. Excellent quality."

Excellent Blazer,

"First of all, may I thank Orvis for its superfast delivery. The order was placed on Sunday and I received the blazer on Tuesday! The blazer is very well cut and fits me perfectly. I usually need shortening sleeve length, but not this one! I am also grateful to the customer advisor who provided me with detail measurements on sleeve length and body length etc. It is also made in the USA including the buttons! This will be my travel and everyday blazer for the next few years!"

Excellent Blazer,
January 23, 2009
By:
RobertDRfrom Boise, Idaho
"I've owned many blazers over the years (Brooks Brothers, Polo, Paul Stuart), and this one is of very good quality. Let's face it -- at a certain point of craftsmanship, a blazer is a blazer -- if it's well made and fitting (which this one is) it conveys the right message about the wearer. This is a sharp looking jacket, and once accessoried, nobody could tell it only cost a couple of hundred. I'm very pleased with my purchase, and strongly recommend it to others."

GREAT for travel...,
January 21, 2009
By:
Ihatenicknamesfrom Cary, NC
"If you are at home and have a business meeting then this might not be the first jacket you grab....odds are you do have a better looking one in your closet, BUT if you are traveling.....then that nice cashmere sportcoat you have will be covered in wrinkles while this one comes out crisp every time. Sit on it, cover it in hair, run over it with the car (don't do this last one) and it will look good and wearable every time."

dog hair resistant,
September 12, 2008
By:
bmhowardfrom Falls Church, VA
"My beagle and bloodhound have velcro hair, it sticks to all my jackets, but this one suffers the least. It is the only jacket I can wipe the hair off with just my hand and not need a lint roller. It also fits great. I bought a size 40 and didn't need any alterations. A friend of mine with a different body shape bought a size 44 and also needed no alterations. Perhaps a coincidence, but a testament to a time-tested cut as well. The only thing I would change about this jacket is I would offer other colors and I would make the exterior pockets go inside the jacket instead of stitched to the outside. When your pockets are empty it would provide a cleaner drape I think."

Great Blazer for Travel,

"Great blazer for travel, the only drawback is the lining which is not so durable as the rest and tends to tear especially if you keep pens in the inner pockets! Even so I will buy another one!"

High Quality, USA Made,
June 7, 2008
By:

"Orvis could easily get away with selling this jacket for another $100. Good luck finding another blazer out there from a reputable store going for $200 and Made In The USA - it won't happen even at the outlet malls. Please Orvis, keep delivering high quality, US Made products like this one at a fair price!"

"Read all the other reviews prior to purchase and I can see why the others would take the trouble to post a review 4.5 out of 5! Deserves the Full 5. Great Fit, Nice Weight, Hangs Well too. No problem in just slipping on with My Denim Jeans or Chinos. That's why I too have taken the time to post one."

Great jacket,
May 13, 2008
By:
Portmanfrom Long Beach, California
"I purchased my Orvis travel blazer 5 years ago and have worn it in travels all over the world and at home. No matter how it is hung, stored in an overhead bin or worn while riding in a taxi, I have always arrived at appointments or gatherings looking sharp and pressed. The spacious and secure pockets make it the perfect travel garment when boarding passes and ID's must be continually at hand. I love that it is still U.S. made and I am presently buying a new one."

Best travel blazer,
November 18, 2007
By:
JimC
"I have recently taken the blue and charcoal coats to Europe for three weeks. I folded them into approx. nine inch squares and packed in zip lock bags, then into carry on bag. After 12 + hotels when we got to the hotel I unpacked them, hung them up for a few hours and all the wrinkles fell out. I sometimes iron/steam out some small wrinkles if I'm in a hurry - normally not necessary. The interior security pockets are deep and worth the cost of the jacket alone. I had two different pickpockets try me in London, 2 years ago - they got nothing but routed. I have literally worn out a blue jacket I had for ten years and ordered two more. They are the best - period."

Why travel with anything but the Hopsack.,
October 5, 2007
By:
Steven
"I purchased this jacket a few years ago and I travel frequently to Asia on business. Throughout Asia there are many places to purchase custom made blazers for the same money that the Hopsack costs, BUT my choice over and over again is to pack my Hopsack for traveling. Regardless of whether I'm going international or domestic, my Hopsack is dependable, comfortable, and stylish. I can wear the Hopsack with a pair of slacks to dress it up or throw it on with a pair of jeans. It looks great with anything and it's the only jacket I travel with."

weak lining,
October 4, 2007
By:
Jerphdfrom Allentown, PA
"This blazer is wonderful in concept, but as a lining that constantly wears out and tears. Reinforced interior pockets and stronger material would make this blazer better. If you don't put anything like a passport wallet or pens in the interior pockets, you will find this workks well for travel. But that defeats the purpose of this balzer."
