Bournemouth Duffle Coat
The English duffle coat originated in the late 19th century, but it was during WW I that the mens hooded coat became popular—distributed to the Royal British Navy to protect sailors from bone-chilling winters at sea. True to the original style, ours has two large patch pockets in front and one interior patch pocket. Liner is of a tartan pattern—charcoal/red/camel. Traditionally, button toggles were made of horn. Ours are fuax horn, with genuine leather loops. Removable button chin flap and oversized hood. Mens hooded duffle coat in camel. Wool/polyester/polymide/acrylic. Dry clean only. UK.Sizes: M (10-12), L(42-44)only.

"I bought this coat as a gift for my boyfriend. According to the sizing chart he would be a medium but the large fits perfectly especially if you want to wear a heavy sweater underneath. It's not 100% wool but it is very warm and well made."

Review 2 for Bournemouth Duffle Coat

from Pittsburgh, Pa
"I bought the Bournemouth Duffle Coat because I was looking for a warm coat with some length that would both look professional, and stand up to the cold, rainy Pittsburgh fall and winter. I am 6' and about 175 lbs. I have never bought a coat from Orvis before, but all the reviews said that the sizes run large. I wear a 41R sport coat and I e-mailed Orvis to find out the measurements of the coat. I received a quick reply telling me that the Medium offers a 46 inch chest, 39 inch front body length and 25-5/8 inch sleeve length from the shoulder seam. This size would offer a trimmer fit. The size Large offers a 50 inch chest, 39-1/2 inch front body length and 25-7/8 inch sleeve length from the shoulder seam. I went for the Medium.
I tried the coat on wearing a very light sweater and it had a trim fit. The coat looks excellent, very presentable whether going to the office or going out. However, when I tried the coat on with a heavy sweater or a sports coat underneath the Medium was too tight. Additionally, I wouldn't call the hood "oversized" - it fit well without a hat but I imagine it would have been snug if I were wearing a tossel cap. The material was a little thinner than I was expecting, although it still felt very warm on a 20 degree day, not sure how it would feel on a 10 degree day. I had been told the Duffle Coat was similar to a long peacoat with a hood, but my peacoat is considerably thicker. I was also a little disappointed that the coat didn't have the side pockets underneath the patch pockets.
All-in-all a very fine coat. Very fashionable. Still debating if it will hold up to the cold and the rain. I think I'm going to keep the coat, but exchange it for a Large."
