Trip of a lifetime.,
February 21, 2008

"Went to Pesca Maya the last week of Novemver 07 and it was indeed a trip of a lifetime. At least until I go back this year!
The staff was wonderful from Noe, the manager, to the waiters, cooks, and fishing guides.
Good accomodations, great food and drinks, and plenty of fish to be caught. I would not hesitate to recommend Pesca Maya for anyone, beginner to expert.

Great Trip, Great Travel Services,
October 5, 2007

"This was my first true bonefishing trip and I landed double digit bones every day of my four day trip, plus my first permit! I was paired with same guide for the entire stay which was a big help and added to the experience. Food was terrific; who can complain with lobster as the send off meal? I intend to return next year. Orvis Travel Services are second to none. Orvis was able to help last minute travel and lodging arrangements necessitated by a sudden late spring ice storm. (In order to make the trip happen, I was on my way to the airport to try to catch an earlier flight as Orvis was successfully booking the lodging, fishing and transportation changes.) Orvis made the trip and all the possble problems due to the storm hassle free. Booking through Orvis was definately a plus."

"Just returned from a great adventure at the Pesca Maya Lodge, starting with the road to the lodge! Once you get through all the bumps the rest is smooth sailing. Arturo's food was fabulous, the guides, Luis and Augustino, put us on more fish than I have seen in any previous trip to the Yucatan. Great value for great fishing! We'll be back."

"I have been to six Carribean Lodges, and would rate Pesca Maya as my top experience to date. The lodge is comfortable, and the staff attentive to the needs of both experienced and novice anglers alike - my girlfriend had her first bonefishing experience and enjoyed it very much due to the patience of the guides and their desire to see her win. A rare feature indeed is their practice of using two guides - this works out great when fishing with a companion - one guide wades with one angler, while the other poles the boat - more fishing for your money!! I would recommend Pesca Maya to all askers!"

"I have fished Pesca Maya a number of times and am always impressed with it's consistancy. It seems some fishing camps are excellent one year and not so the next , i have never been dissapointed with a trip to Pesca Maya. From the hard working mayan guides to the friendly staff at the lodge, all try hard to make your stay enjoyable. And because of it's location, half way between the "boca" and assencion bay,all this area can be fished easily. Also the single best thing about Pesca Maya, which sets it apart from any other lodge i'm aware of, is that a guide and a helper are in every boat. This can be invaluable in spotting fish and allows two people to go wadeing with each accompanied by a guide. Also the manager of the lodge, Brian Jones, is a very interresting carracter and does a great job in keeping things organized."

"Pesca Maya has been the place for me four out of my five trips to Acention Bay. Two guides to a boat for two fishermen is the greatest advantage fishing and the quiet lagoon outside your door is the best location of the other lodges I have seen. Brian and his staff keep you full of fine food and laughter. I will be back soon. "

"I have had the distinct pleasure of fishing and at Pesca Maya the past two seasons. The accomidations, which are right on the beach, and very comfortable, clean and private are located in an absolutely beautiful environment. The food is excellent with all meals shared at a large table with the other guests. Service is incomparable and friendly as directed by Brian, the on site manager. The lodge has a full bar featuring the best margaritas I've ever tasted. Brian does an excellent job of matching the fly fishermen to their guides, all of whom are top notch Mayan fishermen. Despite 45 years of fly fishing experience, Brian's guides have never failed to tactfully improve my ability as a fly fishman on each and every trip I've taken at Pesca Maya. The bonefish are plentiful, as are permit and tarpon, and several grand slams were caught during both of my stays although unfortunately not by me. My bonefish averaged 3-5 pounds, and my guide was instrumental in locating, sighting and instructing my presentation. I can't compliment the guides enough, not to mention the owners of Pesca Maya, who are extremely gracious and interesting hosts. Pesca Maya has my highest recommendation, and that of my non-fishing wife as well. "

"I have fished at Pesca Maya three time in the past 18 months. I could not recommend it more highly. The lodge is managed by a Brit called Brian who is one of the best hosts I have ever had the pleasure to stay with, he loves the Yucatan, the lodge and the fishing and this enthusiasm permeates everything at Pesca Maya. The fishing is fabulous and having 2 guides per boat is a definite bonus. Great and varied Bonefishing; schools, doubles and singles plus loads of Permit and just about everything else you would expect in this part of the Caribbean. If you want great fishing, food, scenery and company, this is the place."
