Best tying material for trout flies, May 27, 2009

"I use these snowshoe rabbit's feet on wings on mayfly, midge, and caddisfly imitations. The material ties in easily, has far less bulk than deer hair or calf tail or feathers, and floats so well if you pull a fly under it will pop back to the surface. With a few colors of rabbit's feet, a dubbing selection, and either hackle fibers or Z-lon for tails or shuck, you can imitate any mayfly or caddisfly adult, emerger, or spinner in the world.

I'd give up hackle before I'd give up this material."
