Warm water boot, February 11, 2010
By: GunnarJ

"I love this boot for fishing all types of water including salt as long as its relatively warm. Sometimes on those hot summer days or evenings you just want to ditch the waders. With these boots you can stay cool while maintaining great tracking on the rocks. You can also take the liners out and put them over your waders for a nice low cut wading boot."

Wet wade shoe, January 15, 2010
By: Ehop

"These wading shoes are very flexible and a great option for travel. I use them without the booty over my normal waders. They are comfortable ,easy to get on and off and work well in the water. I also use these with the booty for those warm summer days when you do not want to get the waders on or are looking to make a few casts in the late evening.

Great performance and value."

Get the Ultra Light Wading Boots instead......, September 22, 2009
By: TurkeyBum from Alabama

"These didn't do much for me. As other reviewers have noted, the booties are so ridiculously small relative to the shoe size as to be worthless, although that wasn't such a big deal to me as I have some quality neoprene wading socks already (or you could just use some scuba-diving booties).

The main problem was with the felt soles - they are inset into just the center portion of the sole, leaving 1/2 to 3/4 inch around the edges without any felt. Also, the felt insert is thicker than the rest of the sole and protrudes about 1/2 inch, so you have the sensation of walking on soles that are about four sizes smaller than your feet - kind of a "rocking" effect and not very stable on a floor let alone (I would imagine) a trail or river rocks. I don't know for sure because I returned them and Orvis cheerfully exchanged them for the Ultra Light Wading Boot - at only $10 more, a much better product in my opinion."

Recommend with reservation, September 15, 2009
By: AgFox

"Since my old pair of these boots were starting to show their years of hard use, I ordered a new pair when I saw they were on sale. Although the boots fit the same, the upper part of the booties are too tight. After struggling for a time to get one on my bare right foot, it took ~3 minutes to remove it. I never did get the left on. I visited two shops carrying Orvis products and tried to slip on the booties from my size(10) and the next larger size and couldn't get them on. One store told me they advised buyers to go up two sizes to try to get booties that fit. I found that by cutting a 1 3/4 inch slit in each elastic panel and then sealing the raw edge with a lighter, the booties can be slipped on easily. The elastic panel left intact will I hope be enough to keep out pebbles, otherwise I'll sew in some wide elastic band from my wife's sewing basket."

Great wading shoe!, September 15, 2009
By: Steak

"Was looking for a wet wading sandal, which was difficult with my size 14 foot. The local Orvis rep showed these to me, and they were perfect, better than a sandal, more dexterous than a boot. Took them out today on the upper Kern (way upper, thanks to the shoes) and they worked great. They were not too heavy, stuck well to even the mossy rocks, and did EXATLY what I wanted them to do.
Would be a 5-star rating but for one thing. The booty, (as others have said) seems way too tight, especially around the ankle. I had to remove the booties at one point just to get some circulation going. If Orvis can find a better bootie, they have a near perfect product."

Shoe is great, Bootie needs work, August 3, 2009
By: fshnl8

"I bought these a couple of months ago and after 3 fish days, the bootie seams are torn. I even tore the nylon strap in the back of the bootie .. just trying to get it on. I wear a size 10 and I have a heck of a time getting the bootie on and off. I tried my buddy's size 11 bootie in the size 10 shoe and it worked great. The shoe is excellent, just try on the bootie first and make sure it is easy to get on and off."

Great idea - maybe some issues?, July 13, 2009
By: PaulBR from Colorado

"Hi:

Got these shoes based on some recommendations and the great idea of a felt soled shoe that can also be used to get to the fishing spot. I fish in some hike in areas here in Colorado that are impractical to wear waders too and, frankly, waders aren't needed.

I also fish in some places in the Black Hills in SD, so transporting whirling disease is a concern of mine, which may be at the cause of some of the durability issues I've seen.

I've worn the shoes twice (once in CO on a pretty long hike-in and once in SD) and have noticed what I consider to be abnormally fast wear (the insoles are showing sings of ripping and there is fraying on the upper heel seams. Probably this is due to the fact that I soak them in bleach after wearing in the hopes of stopping the spread of whirling disease. There is the expected lightening of the shoes, but that is of no consequence.

Fit wise, the shoes are great with different liner socks. For me, the included neoprene booties are so tight as to cause pain in my toes -easily rectified with different booties. As my feet are somewhat oddly shaped, I don't think many others would have this problem.

Again, I really like the idea of these shoes, and think that perhaps the bleach used has caused premature issues. If you generally fish the same waters and don't subject them to the bleach treatment I have no doubt these shoes will be great for you."

Great warmwater shoe, March 16, 2009
By: Canefisher1 from Central Illinois

"I bought these two years ago specifically for smallmouth fishing here in the midwest. My favorite river has a very uneven gravel bottom with large rocks & ledges. These shoes offer great stability & traction in the river, along with light weight that helps prevent fatigue during the quarter mile hike to & from the river. These are the most comfortable & durable wading shoes I've owned."

Best way to wet wade, January 14, 2009
By: COFisherMan

"I've used these shoes the past two summers to wade in Wyoming and I've really learned to appreciate them. The sole is stiff enough to keep my feet from getting sore after a day on river rocks. Also, they dry relatively quickly and they are comfortable with a pair of medium weight socks. I've been doing it for years and these are the best shoes to wet wade in I've owned."

Awesome!, August 26, 2008
By: MrCleanX from Post Falls, ID

"After 5 days in the Kootenai River valley in MT, no complaints at all. Rocks, flats, drift boat, even used them with my waders. Comfy, light and warm. I normally wear an 11-11.5 shoe. The size 12 fit perfectly."

Exactly what I needed, June 23, 2008
By: Bullethead from Beverly Hills, CA

"The Orvis Wet Wading shoes were exactly what I needed - I used them extensively for the first time in the Sierras, where it was 100 degrees+. Essentially like wearing a pair of sneakers, they needed no breaking in, and were amazingly comfortable throughout the weekend. I had no worries negotiating submerged rocks, and was thankful for the mobility that these shoes allowed."

Cool wading shoe!, May 15, 2008
By: Chrmax from Franklin, IN

"I have used this several times this spring and it is really comfortable. The bootie is a great idea to keep your toes from getting chilly. The only problem is the felt should go all the way to the sides. That little bit of rubber on the sides can cause a fall on slippery rocks. Otherwise it is really great for those shorts and shoes wading experiences in the hot summer. Much better than slippery tennis shoes!"

"These shoes not only work well for wet wading during the hot days of summer, but if you slip the neoprene booties out of them, they pack easily and can be used as a regular wading shoe, although they have no ankle support. 2 seasons in, and they still look and work like new."

Excellent product, October 4, 2007

"I've owned two pairs of this wading shoe and find them indispensable. I wade wet in Montana all summer, and these are both comfortable and durable. They are also perfect for jumping in and out of a drift boat, as I seldom wear waders in the hot sun."

"My wife and daughter bought me these as an early father's day present. I spent seven hours standing in the Raitan River while wearing these and the comfort was unbelievable! These are the first pair of wading shoes I owned with a felt sole and I was shocked at the traction. I also was scraping the sides while climbing boulders - as they took a beating, my feet still felt great. Orvis never dissapoints and I recommend these highly."
