"I purchased this rod in part because I trusted the Orvis name and wanted a quality rod that I could readily afford (given that I am somewhat monetarily challenged). Once I got the chance to fish with the rod, I was thrilled--this rod exceeded my expectations at the price. This is a great all-around rod for most of the fishing I do. I generally fish for river smallmouth, panfish, and catfish and enjoy an occasional saltwater trip to the Chesapeake Bay for 30-40 inch stripers. In all cases, this rod has worked wonderfully. It's responsive, yet it has a great backbone to bring in the larger fish.

Not as important as performance, but still something worth noting, is aesthetics. The rod is a beautiful blue that looks gorgeous out on the water. Though the cork on the rod is not as nice as more expensive rods, the rod displays great craftsmanship, and I'm always proud to pull my Clearwater out of its case.

To sum up, though I have fallen in love with some other rods (that happen to be much more expensive), this rod is more than enough rod for the average angler, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a rod that performs well at a great value. ."
