Dang you Orvis, October 18, 2009
By: buggy from Gt smoky Mts/Alabama

"Purchased this rod as a package from the Sevierville, TN store about a month ago. Returned yesterday for the free fly fishing courses and walked out with the 5 wt package.
Been fly fishing for about a year now and learned the miss-mash I was using just did not cut it anymore. Going to Orvis and seeking out the advise of pros in the sales department has lifted me to a new level, No, I am not "Super Fly Guy" but now I realise what I need to work on and have good, matched equipment to work with.
The quality, value, service was way above any fly shop I have visited in the past. Will return later to do a little more upgrading and fill in a few holes. Even the wife agrees, says fly fishing gets me out of the house and out of her hair so she welcome visits to the Sevierville store with me. I just wonder whats in those bags she carries out of the store, I know it is not my stuff."

"After realizing that I was not a "fast" rod guy, I went looking for a 6wt to throw some larger flies for Smallies and LM. I cast the Orvis Matrix, TFO Pro Series, Sage Launch, Sage FLi, Scott V2, Scott A2, and the Clearwater. Not only was it (for me) the best feeling rod, but the price was right. I have now used it for an entire season and found it to be everything I wanted. I have caught SM up to 2.5 pounds and LM up to 6 and the rod was a winner. I am tempted to try Steelheading with it this year. Between the quality and the warranty it's hard to beat."

Great quality and action for under $200!, September 11, 2008
By: OriginalDarin from Little Rock, Arkansas

"I just recieved my Clearwater II 6wt 9' Tip-flex matched with a new Battenkill Bar Stock III reel. I was concerned that I would be dealing with "cheaper" quality and action than the more expensive rods out there, even those within the Orvis line. I was instantly shocked when the rod out-performed my highest expectations! The 6wt rod had no problem loading 30'-50' of line and shooting it through a 5-10mph crosswind. Stiff enough to handle large pools and mild winds, yet the Tip-flex action allows delicate presentation in close quarters. I am VERY impressed with this product and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an all-around Trout rod at with unbeatable price."

Best Rod I Own, May 30, 2008
By: Johnny from Wisconsin

"I recently purchased this rod at the Orvis store in Madison ,WI. I was going to cast it there, but they didn't have any 6wt line spooled on a reel. I didn't care, because I knew it be fine, and i was right. I choose a 6wt, because I have a 5wt for trout and panfish, I also have an 8wt rod for bass, salmon, and steelhead, but sometimes when I go to a spot that I have never fished I don't know which rod to bring. This rod solved that problem. The 5wt and 6wt rods are 2 piece rods, and I have to tell you, after using a 4 piece rod I will never buy another 2 pice rod again, because of its compactness. It casts beautifully, it is strong, and it is great looking. This is my new "go-to" rod. Thanks Orvis."

"This is my second Clearwater Rod. My latest is the four piece 6 wt model. My older rod is the four piece 5 wt model. The 6 wt is, in my opinion, the best overall fly rod and weight for the money. The six weight is great for trout to bass. I use my six weight mostly for year-round bass and bream fishing on lakes and ponds here in the mountains of western North Carolina. It's a blast with popping bugs on the end of a 7.5 foot leader."
