"I bought a 4 wt. Clearwater II combo after a long break from fly fishing. I didn't know what to expect as most of my flyfishing experience comes from fishing with heavy saltwater and bass bug tackle and the idea of a lighter weight rod seemed strangely intimidating. I am pleased to report that this rod loads easily and felt like an extension of my hand after working out a few of my own kinks. The equipment used in construction as well as the wrapping seems more than adequate and the entire outfit appears to be head and shoulders above competitor's outfits in the same price point.
The folks in customer service were exceptionally friendly and swapped out the larger BBS III for a BBSII without any hesitation. My only complaint with the combo was the sub-par line. I did not ask for an upgrade, and maybe I should have. The line in the combo sinks after prolonged use. Otherwise, this is an excellent product that I would recommend to anyone."

A great fly rod!, May 29, 2009

"I recently bought the Clearwater II 8'6" for a 4 weight to replace a Sage that I had built and unfortunately broke. I just fished Penns Creek in Pennsylvania mostly w/ nymphs and dry flies. This is a very nice fly rod, equal to my old Sage LL medium flex rod. The rod looks nice, has great components and handles well. Why spend a lot more when you can get a very nice rod like this one for $169?"
