Leather Bush Pilot Jacket
A jacket style worn by pilots who first flew the 1929 Travelair 6000B, a wooden, fabric-covered single-prop plane first used to fly supplies to homesteaders and gold miners into the backcountry of Idaho's Selway-Bitterroot Mountains. Pilots chose the bush jacket to stave off the cold mountain air that seeped into the plane and to permit themselves a range of motion in the cockpit. We use French lamb for our bush flight jacket. Rugged and durable, it resists abrasion and develops a fine patina throughout the years. Jacket has snap closure flap pockets with side entry hand warmers and polyester lining with nylon-lined sleeves. Survival whistle and epaulets for parachute straps, more a function of authentic fashion than necessity these days. Jacket features elasticated waist, sleeve cuffs, and underarm grommets. Pilot jacket available in cognac. Jacket: 100% leather. Body lining: 100% polyester. Sleeve lining: 100% nylon. Professional leather clean.Jacket sizes: S(34-36), M(38-40), L(42-44), XL(46-48), XXL(50-52).

"I own about ten quality leather coats/jackets, and this one ranks as one of the very best quality leather jackets I have ever owned. Quality throughout. Awesome lambskin, excellent workmanship and tailoring, beautiful leather texture, and the true smell of quality leather! There isn't a person I wouldn't recommend this coat to, from the President of the United States on down. If you are looking for true quality in a leather jacket, this one cannot be beat! I only hope that Orvis will continue to carry this jacket in inventory each year. I would hate to see such a quality piece of merchandise disappear from inventory. Way to go, Orvis! Quality merchandise such as the Lambskin Bush Pilot Jacket only elevates your company's image and prestige, if that is possible. I will always treasure this jacket as one of my favorites."

"I rarely write reviews but in this case I felt I needed to especially since others who took the time to write a review before me helped me to make the right decision. I own a leather jacket but never wear it because I don’t like the cut of the jacket. I’ve been searching for a new jacket for quite some time now. I’m a big guy, 6’1” and more than 260 lbs. Over the last two months I’ve ordered three separate jackets and returned each of them. I looked at even more in stores but none were exactly right for me. Technically they fit me but in each case I felt I was compromising in some way. Either the cut wasn’t what I wanted or the color wasn’t quite what I was looking for or the elastic waist band was too tight. I had pretty much given up on finding the right jacket for me when I saw the Orvis Lambskin Bush Jacket. Buying a jacket online is difficult to say the least. I liked the color of the jacket’s online picture and the leather looked good too but one never knows for sure based on an online picture what you’re really going to get. The reviews for this jacket were outstanding as well so I decided to take a chance and buy it even though it is expensive compared to what I’ve been looking at previously. The saying that you get what you pay for has never been truer than in this case. Wow, what a jacket! The leather is so soft but yet thick and durable. The smell is mild to neutral. It has a Velcro close inside breast pocket this good size. The quality is top notch. The color and styling is perfect. The jacket looks great even on someone of my size. The elastic waist band is just right. There are no compromises with this jacket. I have finally found the perfect leather jacket! If you are like me looking at jacket after jacket thinking no one makes a jacket like the one you are looking for, your wait is over. I would recommend this jacket to my family and my closest friends. I want to wear it all the time and never want to take it off. Thank you Orvis. I am so happy! "I had the leather bush pilot jacket delivered to my place of work, my collegue opened the box whilst the rest of my collegues gathered round, we were all dumb founded when the color the smell and the feel of the jacket sank in. This must be the best leather jacket I will ever own. The pictures on the web site does not do it justice at all. The leather is really soft and smells as leather should do, the leather is thick and strong and very soft, this jacket has met my expectations and beyond, i am glad i bought it, it is a very good investment."

"I have wanted a leather bomber jacket for years. In 2004 I purchased the Flight Jacket and in 2006 I purchased the Lambskin Jacket. Neither completely satisfied me, in color, texture or fit. I noticed the color of this jacket and lamented the expense of $450 more for a leather jacket. I called Orvis and get this, they took back my other two jackets and gave me a full refund for my original purchases. Truth be told, I never wore them anyway. The Flight Jacket was purchased four years ago! Orvis charged my credit card for the new jacket, gave me a credit a few days later when they received the other two jackets, and had this baby in my hands within 3 days and the shipping was free. Right out of the box, the jacket looked like what I had always envisioned, smelled like a leather jacket should smell and best of all, fit perfectly. It is the true modern heir to the jackets I remember seeing in WW II movies except the color is a beautiful cognac. The product is better than I expected and the Orvis service is so outstanding that it prompted me to write a review for the first time ever. The experience left me feeling good about my purchase, and great about the company I am dealing with."

"Right out of the box you can tell this is a nice piece of work. The Leather is soft and supple and I'm looking forward to the lambskin aging gracefully. I've owned several leather bombers over the years but this is hands down the best I've ever put on. The fit seems excellent and leaves plenty of room even with the Orvis Tweed Cable Turtleneck under it. My only concern is that I'm losing weight and I might shrink out of the XL! I know that if I lose that extra 15 lbs before jacket weather gets here and do get too small for it Orvis will replace it. I almost can't wait for cold weather so I can wear it."

"I am a leather jacket addict and I have to say this is one of the nicest lambskin jackets I have added to my collection. I look forward to many years of use. I do have one complaint though and that is the knitted waistband is too loose. All of my other jackets with knitted waistbands have a stronger, tighter waistband and this has been a disappointment. I may have to take it to a local flight jacket manufacturer and have them tighten the waistband but I still love it and am happy with my purchase."

"I thought the Leather flight jacket was soft. This one is even softer yet durable. I like the color contrast compared to the dark rich brown fo the flight jacket. Both are obviously of the same manufure which exudes quality. The bush jacket hangs a little narrower and gives me a SLIM FIT. The knit cuffs allow for a perfect arm fit. And it has extra inside pockets that those cheaper jackets do not have. |If you buy on the Cheap, then that is what you get. no shortcuts here!"
