"I bought this train a few seasons ago and have used it around the Christmas tree ever since. I love it and so do my grandchildren who are 4 and 20 months! Because it is not electric the kids can turn it on (by pushing a button) and watch it go. One of the cars is big enough for a stuffed animal or small doll to go for a ride. Since Christmas my grandson who is 20 mos goes to where the tree was and says," choo choo!" The tracks are a bit fragile and it would be nice to have replacements available. I recommended the train to two friends who each purchased one."

"I've always wanted a Train around the Christmas Tree for the Grandchildren. This one looks like a real train, has the smoke, whistle and another noise. We tried it on the carpet and it did keep running off the track, but think that on a hardwood floor, it will not do this. I think the product was worth the price. If someone wants a really nice train, they will have to pay the big bucks for one."

"This was a birthday gift for our 7 year old grandson. After I read the reviews, I was a little leery, but decided to get it anyway. He loves it! Other reviews said they couldn't figure out how to make it smoke. Ours smoked all by itself. Very cool! It isn't heavy black smoke- just little wisps. There were no instructions at all, but wasn't hard to figure out how to put it together and make it go. It makes great train noises. The track is the part that could be improved. It is not durable and one part keeps coming apart when the train runs over it, causing derailment."

"This train while a good idea does not meet Orvis standards. I expected a quality product but got a cheap light weight plastic train which does not do what it states it will do. No steam/smoke and runs off the track often. And then I now see it is now $59 a couple days after our purchase. Not worth it and too much of a hassle to return it!"

"All I can say is I'm surprised that Orvis was selll such a piece of junk. We were really looking forward to putting this train around our tree, but when it arrived w realized how cheap it was. The box told us it took 3 batateries, when in fac it took six. One of the couplings on the train was broken. One of the tracks broke almost immediately and there was no way to fix it. Extremely unhappy and am returning it to our local store today."

"Our grandson is a 3 1/2 year old train junkie! So we got him this, from Santa ... Christmas morning he went bonkers! All other gifts were totally ignored! The only problem was no one could figure out how to make it smoke. But he didn't know it was supposed to, so it didn't bother him a bit. "I purchase this about a week ago and it arrived for Christmas Eve. As I was putting it together 2 tracks broke. They are impossible to fix or glue together. I wish I had read these reviews first. "I wanted this train to work out so much! I bought it as a surprise for my husband, who is away on business, and to surprise my grandkids too. I have spent the better part of this morning trying to fit the track pieces together. This train came in a box with absolutley NO directions. None. Maybe I should have watched my dad more carefully growing up. This train confused me to the point of disassembling it and attempting to return it. Oh ~ The straw that broke my back...The caboose wiould not hook to the last car. whether it is a missing part or Scrooge, I'm not sure. I am sooo disappointed."

"When my family and I set this train up just the other day. We were very excited about it.... until we turned it on. All of the cars squeak so loud we could only have it on for 5 minutes at a time. We cant figure out if it is supposed to blow smoke or not. In my opinion it is cheaply made and just does not work very good. The drive motor is also very very loud."
