A big cat bed,
March 15, 2010
By:
FurMom
"I bought this for my 70-lb german shepherd, who's 12 with hip dysplasia and arthritis. I bought the Large, thinking it would be big enough, but it wasn't. My smallest dog, a 50-lb basset, can climb on the bed, but not comfortably. The bed seems to be tough for dogs with leg problems (whether old/arthritic or short legs) to climb on.
My female cat, on the other hand, won't get off the bed. She's claimed it as her throne and absolutely loves it. Such is life!
I've always bought Orvis products for my dogs (my other three dog beds are all from Orvis) and I love them. I was looking for something to help my older dog be more comfortable, but this didn't do it."

Three Dogs' Seal of Approval,
March 5, 2010
By:
retrieverladyfrom NC
"I bought this for my oldest lab, mainly because I thought it would be easy for him to get on and off it, and it is. It has a nice soft cover that comes out of the dryer almost like new. My two younger dogs, who can still get on the sofa or my bed, love the memory foam dog nest, so some dog is on it all the time. I might have to buy another one . . ."

rectangle memory foam bed,
February 2, 2010
By:

"I ordered this rectangle bed for our nine-year-old Berner. She loved it, but it was too thin, and I thought she should have a quilted bed like the one our lab has. Also, the shape was not quite right for the Berner and the space where I placed the bed. I returned it for the circular quilted memory bed, and it is perfect. Our Berner twists into a large ball to sleep on it every night as well as for naps during the day. She has more energy in the morning since sleeping on her bed gives her joints a chance to rest. When I returned the rectangle for the circular bed, the service from Orivs could not have been better. They take back the product without question and make it easy. We dog lovers are lucky to have such a pet-friendly company."

Super therapeutic!!,
January 25, 2010
By:
AussiesRUsfrom Nashville, TN
"The humans in our family have been sleeping on memory foam mattresses for years and love them. But our six year old Australian Shepherd, Rosie, has always been a floor sleeper - preferring to stretch out on the carpet rather than use the bead filled Orvis nests our two other Aussies love.
I decided to give this bed a try when, after three months post surgery from a torn ACL, Rosie still had very little use of the injured leg. It took several days of "are you SURE you want me to sleep on this?" looks, but she now prefers the therapeutic memory foam bed to sleeping on the floor. Plus, she is finally regaining use of the injured leg! I'm convinced the bed made all the difference."

Wonderful for an old dog!,
January 22, 2010
By:
VirginiaMomfrom Winchester, VA
"Our dog loves his new bed and we enjoy the quality behind the Orvis name. Our bed isn't poofy like the one in the photo, in fact, it is perfectly flat due to the flat rectangular piece of memory foam in it. The embroidery was off center which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars for appearance. The tan houndstooth is a very nice color."

Another great bed!,
January 19, 2010
By:
Weimfrom Norwalk, CT
"All the dog beds I've bought have been from Orvis. This bed is another winner! My 7 month old Weimaraner, Zoe, claimed it as soon as it was out of the box and on the floor. I want to be sure she is comfortable and both the outer and inner material of this bed assures that. I am pleased with the light brown color, the size is perfect for her to stretch out, and her name personalized on the bed makes it special. I would never get a dog bed from any other store than Orvis."

Spencer Loves It!,
December 13, 2009
By:
Newfiemomfrom Barryville, NY
"Although my 9 year-old, 160-pound Newfoundland has always had "couch privileges," he now always chooses this bed. He seems to find it more fitting and maneuverable than the puffier, beaded Dog's Nest he once had - although I much prefer that one's dark green stag cover, apparently no longer available. Haven't needed to launder it yet, but I appreciate the shrinkage warning. The recently-rescued Lab/Pit Bull mix Spencer adopted (who incidentally destroyed the former Dog's Nest) at first took up residence on the newly-vacated couch. But now he prefers to sleep on the floor, parallel to Spencer and his new bed. I get the hint that he thinks he needs one of these kinds of beds, too."

The pups like it,
December 10, 2009
By:
TwoDoggies
"I have two older dogs, both arthritic, and I have several dog beds. They definitely prefer this design to the round beds filled with beads.
Like the other reviewer, I agree that the cover is difficult to replace after washing. I think it's an issue of sizing: The makers didn't allow for a wee bit of shrinkage.
After struggling with the cover, I got out a sharp kitchen knife and sliced an inch of foan off one side and one end. Now it slips in much easier.
My suggestion is that Orvis make the covers larger or the foam smaller."

Great for large dogs,
September 9, 2009
By:
Earlefrom Mobile, AL
"My dog, Gus is a large120LBS, 8 year old Lab. The bed is extremely comfortable and is large enough for Gus to stretch out on it. The memory foam seems very durable and the outside microfleece cover seems to be of high quality. The only problem is that that the outside cover only zips up at one end. Fairly easy to remove the bed from the outside cover when you need to wash it. Very difficult to put the bed back into the outside cover after washing. The outside cover should have been designed to open at the end and one side. A bit pricey but well worth it for an older dog. Overall, I would highly recommend this product."
