Outstanding Service,

"Got bed for a "rescued" dog that is afraid of everything! The bed and paperwork all arrived in a timely manner and top condition. Because the frightend dog still will not appear from under a covered chair, I regrettably returned the bed. Again, the process was ever so easy. The follow- up by Oris was exceptional. I can not say enough good things about their outstanding customer service. I plan on looking for my clothing items there from now on."

"We have bought the Orvis Dog Nest since the first day it was offered many years ago and therefore we own many at this time. Some of our nests are over 15 years old. They wash and dry like none other. the poly beads are our favorite and the bed holds its shape to the point that the dogs never want the nap to end. You cannot go wrong with this product. We buy larger since they snuggle better with the bigger size. It cannot be beaten!!"

"Our 3 dogs love to snuggle in these Orvis beds. The replaceable beads are great because we can add more as needed to keep the beds fluffy. The only minor thing I would change is to have a stronger zipper as ours tends to separate and spill the beads."

"my dog would not go on this bed at all. i'm not sure if it was the texture/feel of the bed or the chemical smell of the beads inside. i could smell the beads as well, and if i had to use something like this for a pillow, it would have given me a headache. Orvis was really great and happily exchanged the bead fill (which was completely untouched) for the polyfiber fill. my dog and i are now both very happy! i originally chose the bead fill since another review said that her dogs dig before lying down and love these beds and mt dog likes to dig, too."

orvis dog bed,

"I bought 2 of the bead filled beds for my dogs based on the excellent reviews. The beds appear to be very high quality and my dogs like them. The beads are rather noisy in the bedroom when the dogs try to get comfy. Haven't tried to wash the covers yet, but will report back if any problems."

my dog wouldn't sleep in it,
January 14, 2010

"This bed is everything Orvis promised it would be. The only problem is my boston terrier did everything he could to NOT sleep in it. He does dig before he sleeps, but he did not "dig" this bed. I would say that if your dog is used to a nice soft fluffy polyfill, he is not going to like the hard feel of the beads. I had to replace the beads with polyfill and he is happy again. live and learn"

Nice, but not nest-y enough,
December 19, 2009

"We already own the Orvis Wraparound bed, and since the big 50-lb shepherd mix won't share, we bought the Bead Nest for the smaller, 40-lb shepherd mix. She loves to dig into her beds to create nests so I thought it would be perfect. The size is great (large round) and the microfiber cover is beautiful and durable. However, I'm not sure if the cover shrank slightly when I first washed it, or if the insert is filled too full of beads. Either way, it seems very full and is almost hard to lie on. There isn't enough room in the bed for her to re-shape it--she just squashes down one edge of it and sleeps there. I'm interested that a previous reviewer sewed a new insert. I may open it up and remove enough beads to make it more pliable."

My first Orvis bed is all I hoped it would be!
"Our 4month old Italian Spinone puppy Ulysses loves his new bed. And so do I. The round, bead filled bed is so soft, inviting and roomy that today I fell asleep on it with him! I guess the puppy's early mornings are taking their toll, but now I can honestly attest that the microfiber covered dog bed is very comfortable-- for both dog and master!"

Retired Racing Greyhound Loves This!,
December 6, 2009
By:

"Our 70-lb retired racing greyhound loves this bed. She's a "nester" and this bed molds to her body and cushions her head. She can curl up in the middle of it, she can even lay stretched out on her back - - not easy for a greyhound because they have such narrow backs. I had read that this bed was a good one for greyhounds and it's certainly true for our girl. The great thing about the tartan cover is that it doesn't show her black dog hair either! Great product ... I just ordered a second one so that we have one upstairs and one downstairs."

Lounging in the office
"I own two of the round nests with the canvas tartan cover - one with beads (size L), one with spun polyester fill (size XL). These beds have outlived two Dobermans (100-lb and 90-lb) in 8 years and are presently enjoyed by my current 70-lb Doberman. The covers have been washed hundreds of times and still look wonderful - they get softer with each wash and have maintained color amazingly well. The zipper is heavy-duty and the stitching remains perfect. The bead bed stays in the living room because I find it noisy when my dog circles and "plumps" it up. The polyester bed is in my bedroom and is very quiet, no matter how much my dog manipulates it. As far as washing the polyester liner - DON'T use an agitator washer! It tears the container fabric even on the gentle cycle. If you must wash it, use a front-loader (I've taken it the laundry mat to wash) and use the low setting on the dryer - throw in a clean sneaker to plump it up while drying. Also, if you have an incontinent dog - invest in the vinyl liner that Orvis sells. It's worth every penny and is equally well-constructed and heavy-duty as the beds."

The bead nest is best!,
November 4, 2009
By:

"I love the bead filled nest, but have one complaint. The interior cover holding the beads is too stiff. I realize that it is for durability, but it does not allow the beads to mold as easily to small dogs.
I took my beads and made a softer interior cover out of an old sheet.
I love the fact that you still sell bead beds."

On a cold day McKenzie snuggles in tight and gets tucked in with her blanket
"My dog took a while to get used to the bed, but once she did she loves it! I just asked her to lie down on the bed, and then and gave her lots of treats and praise. After 3 days it became her favorite place to sleep. The washable cover is necessary and the beads create a custom fit for her body. I'm excited to see the bed not compress and the cover get softer with time. The perfect nest!"
