It's also anti-static and velvety smooth with deep, rich colors. We use only the highest quality microfiber in our Nests for incredible comfort and long-lasting durability. Here's the color "slate" against actual slate.

"Though it's on the spendy side, the product is certainly quality. I would recommend erroring on the bigger size. We ordered a large for our Weimaraner. She's still a puppy and will probably stay on the smaller size when full grown (50-60 lbs), but think the large size will fit perfectly. The cover is very tough, rich in color ("slate" is more of a dark chocolate brown), and easily washable. The fill does pack out, but the dog can deal with it! I was also impressed at how water resistant the cover is. An unnoticed "accident" didn't immediately soak through. The zipper and seams are pretty resilient to the chewing and digging. Overall, (and the reason we paid the extra bucks instead of picking up a cheap-o at the local pet store) the bed looks great and is made well. Save the three-figure price, I give it a 5 of 5."

Didn't hold up, February 6, 2010
By: Snowdog

"I purchased this about 14 mon ago for our 85# lab mix. The cover (herringbone) is very attractive and it has held up well to washing. However, the fill has clumped up and left many "dead spots." I will be buying a different bed with a different type of fill because the polyfill just hasn't held up. Maybe I should try the memory foam!"

Good sturdy product, January 18, 2010

"The dogs like it.The cover is heavy duty and looks good too. There has only been one "accident" on it which did not even penetrate through the cover."

Lab loves it, December 12, 2009
By: Ohgram

"When we first got this, our boy was a little hesitant to climb on board as it was larger and thicker than his previous bed. But once he tried it, he now LOVES it and sleeps on it all the time. The only thing I dislike a bit is the fabric really holds the dog hair and needs to be hand vacuumed. Other than that, it's great and your larger dog will enjoy it."

Reading in Bed

"This summer, I got the large version of this bed in tattersall for my 70-lb, 5-year-old, tall Border Collie-Lab cross. He loves it (the wonderful photo of the Ridgeback in another review pretty much encapsulates the way my dog feels about this bed...I'll see if I can find a picture, too).
Our little aged cat also loves it (despite the plethora of other more appropriately-sized--but cheap--cat/small dog beds that have accumulated in our family). She lies directly in the center of the Dog's Nest in a range of luxurious positions and looks completely ecstatic. The dog comes over and looks mournfully at her but is too much of a gentleman to make her move. (He grabs it every time she leaves so that it is very rarely empty.)
Both of them were very couch-oriented before this bed, and while I can't say either has entirely given up the couch, they certainly spend much, much more time on the Dog's Nest. Thank you, Orvis!

A final detail for those interested in the tattersall color: due to the trickiness of conveying color on a website, the actual bed (or at least my actual bed) is more olive-greeny than the picture. Which is probably just as well, because the off-white color that was pictured would probably look dirtier sooner."

Yeah, this will work....

"Very nice materials, quality and appearance. I got the large size and although it's brand new, it seems like it's sturdy enough and will hold up with use. A little puffy at first, but it's breaking in and shaping to fit my 85 lb. Rhodesian Ridgeback. She was a little curious when she first stepped on the bed, but it only took a minute and she was right at home. Would definitely recommend this product again."

"large bed for 70-100 pound dog is way too small for my labrador retriever who weighs about 65 pounds - She tries to sleep on it, looks and must be, so uncomfortable that she moves to the floor - have ordered extralarge bed which should fit as it did with my older dog"

Great bed, careful of washing though!, October 17, 2009
By: Arlenna from Saint Joseph, IL

"We love this bed for our greyhound, but after a trip in the car trying to use the bed on a slant between the folded-down backseat and the trunk, the polyfill inside had gotten all packed down and lumpy. We tried to wash it to fluff it up again, and accidentally forgot to set the dryer to "Air fluff" (it was on low/delicate instead), and it melted the casing for the polyfill. Also, the filler didn't get any less lumpy. So we bought a new inside for $50!

Hey, we know it is most likely our own fault, lumpiness and definitely melting--we just wanted to let other people know to watch out for these problems so they don't wreck their nice beds!"

"Okay she definitely finds it comfortable, she usually gets up at 4 am with my husband... but not any more!.

Haven't had to wash it yet, will let you know how it goes... this is the most important feature, due to incontinence."

Great Bed!, September 12, 2009
By: Annie1 from Lake Charles, LA

"I have two Scotties that love to stretch out on these beds. Luckily they prefer them over my silk furniture. They will each get another one for Christmas to go in the bedroom. Maybe I'll get my bed back!"
