"Easy to assemble, great finish, good value at the sale price. Love it!! Design Suggestions: The base is too big for our spot so we omitted it in assembly - is working fine. Added bonus - top would be better if it there were optional holes on each side for spring hinges in direction needed for homeowner - might also prevent smart dog from nudging off the top. For other reviewer - a simple wood bar anchored to the bottom slats might prevent your dog from moving the bowl."

"I have a spayed labrador who lives for the kitty dishes. I have tried gates, chairs, counters, you name it. I was concerned, as I have three cats, that the feeder wouldn't be large enough. However, two mature cats fit inside easily, and the extended base of the feeder allows me to place it up against a nook so that the third dish can be placed outside the feeder, but in the nook. My very old cat can walk between the feeder and the wall to reach her dish. It has thwarted my lab's attempts to get the dishes. I place the dishes far enough back so that she can't paw them over to lick through the grate. The feeder is heavy enough that she is unable to slide it away from the wall. All in all, a good purchase."

Incorrect Product Description, August 13, 2009

"The previous reviewer is correct as it is beautifully finished. The problem though is that the description describes the base as 26" x 26" and in reality, the base is 32" x 32". WAY too big for our NYC apartment so we will be returning it."

Not very dog-proof, August 9, 2009

"My wife and I purchased the Dog-Proof Cat Feeder and we were unsuccessful in keeping our Golden Retriever from eating the cat's food. He was able to stick his paws in through the slats and push or pull the cat food bowl over to the door where he would then stick his head in and chow down. We put the feeder in a corner and no matter how we arranged it, he was able to get the food out. If the slats were closer together, this product would work for us. On a positive note, the materials and the finish are really good and the piece looked nice in our home."
