Prefer Original Invincible Sock,

"I have both the orginal invincible and extra socks. The problem with the extra version is that the instep is too tight and has probably skrunk. I have not had that problem with three different pairs of the orignal version. Is it possible to still obtain the orginal invincible sock (which I rate 5 stars)?

"I have purchase these socks before and loved them. The second purchase I couldn't figure out why the socks torn/ ripped at the seams at the band! I ordered more hoping they would be great again. When they arrived, I checked out the tops where the band meets the sock and you can see through the fabric! On all six pairs! Now I know why these sock ripped so fast and didn't last like the first set I purchased! I am really Disappointed as I thought I had found my wool socks for life!"

He's got a pair in white, which they don't make anymore.
"One of my cats, Socks, recently gave me a set of these in Olive Green for my birthday. Now, with a name like Socks you would assume that he knows his stuff, and he really does. These feel good, don't shrink much at all, and they're pretty robust. The other sets that I have in my sock drawer (in Grey and in Charcoal, also gifts from Socks) are older and they're holding up nicely. I wear them all the time. If one day I should find that they come in more colours, I might put those on a future birthday list. They're a little pricey, so I am hoping to get a good number of years out of these. We shall see. Socks has to work pretty hard for the dough to pay for these, but he loves 'em and so do I. Put 'em on your list."

"I purchased an earlier version of these socks some years ago, and they were my favorite ever--I still have several pairs of them; they've held up exceptionally well and are still the most comfortable sock I've ever worn. These new "extras" are overkill--too padded, too thick, you practically need to move up a half shoe size to accommodate their bulk As a result they are also uncomfortably hot. I'm returning those that I haven't already worn for a refund. I'm very disappointed that Orvis felt the need to redesign and reinforce a product that was already perfect. Why not offer both the heavy-duty "extra" verson, and the original regular sock?"

"Out of the box these socks are great. After 1 washing they had more hair sticking out of them than a 'scardy' cat on Halloween. In fact they were worse in this regard than any other sock I've owned. If you want these socks to look nice after washing I recommend you hand wash them and let them air dry - consider yourself warned. I have never had this problem with my Tilley socks, so I was a little surprised. Granted, the Tilleys cost more, but still these should do better with washing."

I wanted to write to express my appreciation of these socks. I never thought I'd write such a thing for something so mundane as socks, but these socks are exceptional! I've worn them on four continents in weather ranging from below freezing while steelhead fishing in Wisconsin to 130 degrees fahrenheit in the deserts of the Middle East. These socks are extremely comfortable and durable. I'm very hard on clothing and usually run through a pair of socks in a year. I wear these all the time, and have done so for several years with not so much as a frayed thread thus far. My congratulations on the quality of this product! "I've been buying these socks for my husband for about 6 years now, and he has yet to wear a hole in any of them. "It is supposed to be fall in Virginia, however I had the pleasure of wearing these socks during 3 90+F days this September and they provided an amazing amount of comfort. My feet felt cool and dry the entire time. These socks are extremely well built, close inspection of each part of the sock reveals an incredible amount of attention to detail for durability and comfort. I don't know that I'll ever be able to test them to 20,000 cycles as Orvis claims, but I know they will last until I lose them. My feet normally eat through socks like I had acid rain leaching through my pores, these socks have outlasted my usual pair with no signs of wear. The only thing a customer should bear in mind is that these are slightly thicker socks, about the thickness of a lightweight hiking sock, and so they may not work best with tight fitting shoes."

"I wore one pair of these for 14 straight days during a survival course in Utah. They were submerged in streams, baked in the sun and almost always full of sand - but not one blister the entire trek. My feet were as comfortable as they've ever been in similar situations. Now that I'm back & the socks are clean, I can't tell them apart from the other pairs that didn't make the trip. Even more amazing considering I had worn them for close to a year previous to the trip. Truly invincible."

"I cannot argue with the quality of these socks, I have been an Orvis sock fan for several years. However, I am a size 12 (UK) ( US 13?) and have great difficulty getting THESE socks on my feet. They are way too tight with very little "give" when trying to pull on. Once on they are OK. Orvis need to offer a XXL size"
