Solid Wood Zig Zag Pet Gate

Solid Wood Zig Zag Pet Gate

Keep your pet in (or out of) areas of your home with our attractive, solid pine pet gates. These freestanding gates work well even in modern, open-floor-plan homes and require no wall attachment. You can customize your gate by adding as many additional one- or two-panel sections as you need (each two-panel section covers a 3' span). You can even add a door or a cat-access panel. Additional panels in mahogany finish only. All panels feature old-world attention to detail, including hand-sanded, rounded edges and nail-free construction. Urethane coating protects finish for years. Gates fold for easy storage. In cinnamon, mahogany, rubbed white. Distance between spindles is 2¾". This item is NOT for use as a child safety gate.

Great Product, December 12, 2009
By: NewMexicoCanines

"Very smooth and uniform "furniture grade" finish. Works well to keep our dogs (and cats) out of our door-less bedroom closet (keeping their fur off of our clothing). We are considering fastening one side to the wall framing timbers beneath the drywall . The smooth feet slide very well on our short pile carpeting and will allow the other side to swing freely."

Unless your dog is old-don't purchase, March 11, 2010
By: littleviolet

"While this product looks nice in appearance and quality-it was utterly useless for our 10 pound puppy that we just brought home. The gate is easily mobile and tips over in a wink. We purchased two large four panels and it was a complete waste of money. We are very disappointed. We then thought we could use it in a wide doorway (72") not a go, and no matter how we propped it up or used zip ties and dumbells to secure the panels in any part of several optional areas, our puppy could figure out how to move it in five minutes. Perhaps they can make panels that are pressure mounted with options of extensions. If they did the product would not only work for everyone, it would look good and serve the intended purpose-function. $500.00 wasted. :("

Love this gate, March 11, 2010
By: DogwellPlace

"We have 13 (yes 13) dogs. All sizes and shapes. Our Walker hound was extremely disappointed we had selected the 48" gate as even his limber body can not jump it. The toy poodles can not squeeze by it. And none of the other 10 have figured out a way to get past it. Makes my life so simple when I am coming home or doing something mundane like bringing in groceries and want to leave the door open. We had done the whole baby gate thing for years and this is so much sturdier, and much more attractive. Feel it is a bit pricey but a nice, sturdy product. I would purchase it again."

The screws strip after a year, March 6, 2010
By: ImBatGirl from Mississippi

"Don't buy, they look great but the screws strip and then you can use longer screws and then they strip. Then they are useless because there's no way to keep the wood sections together."

Response from Orvis: By Orvis Customer Service Team, March 11, 2010
Orvis Customer Service immediately contacted this customer and apologized that the screws became stripped after use. Orvis offered to exchange this gate or give a complete refund. We will cheerfully exchange or refund your purchase at any time, for any reason. Our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee is the strongest in the business.

Great Product, February 25, 2010
By: SmartyPaws from Long Island, NY

"The gates arrived promptly and in excellent condition. They are attractive and sturdy and easy to move about. I absolutely love them and will order more. I do a lot of dog-sitting and they are perfect for keeping dogs contained or, placed in front of my plants, keep puppies safe from chewing on toxic house plants. The large gate is tall enough to contain a large-breed dog. One caveat - I doubt these gates would contain a large-breed dog that is determined to barrel thru. Since they are freestanding, a clever large dog may learn that they can be nudged aside. If your dog is mid-sized or small or a large dog that respects a barrier, then they are perfect. I would suggest to anyone interested in ordering the 4-panel large gate to consider 2 of the 2-panel gates instead. These gates are sturdy and not lightweight so the 4-panel large gate may be a bit heavy or awkward for some people to move. Two 2-panel gates will serve just as well, are easier to move and will give more versatility."

"We needed a simple gate to keep our doodles from the entryway when guests arrived and this absolutely fit the bill. You can manipulate it different ways if you have sneaky dogs and they figure out how to get around it."

Very Pleased!, February 24, 2010
By: Anonymous from Portland, OR

"After using ugly baby gates for years, I purchased a medium two-panel mahogany gate to keep our sheltie in or out of certain rooms of our home. I like the furniture quality of the gate, the ease of moving it around, and the way one panel will swing to let you by. No more climbing/stumbling over gates. As others have mentioned, it only works for pets who will respect barriers."

great gate, February 19, 2010
By: snickerdoodle

"I was hesitant about buying this gate because of expense - but it is a real value. It keeps my very tall dog in the kitchen area and is much better then trying to rig other gates across the area. I also bought an extra panel with a cat opening which works very well. I have used bungee cords onto a heavy piece of furniture to keep the gate in place. I did need to put some small furniture pads underneath the gate to keep it from scratching the floor. It was very easy to hook this gate to the to the other panel which was a plus. I am very happy with the arrangement."

great gate, February 3, 2010
By: theMC

"This is just what we were looking for -- the gate fits perfectly in hallways or doorways to keep our 50 lb standard poodle out of trouble. It's beautiful and well made, and blends in nicely with our wood floors. We saw these gates at a friend's house and immediately went home and ordered some for ourselves. Great purchase!"

Extremely pleased with purchase, December 6, 2009
By: GRANDY048 from TEXAS

"These panels have been the very best solution for containing our little schnauzer without making it inconvenient for us! Panels not only match and look nice in our home, they are easy to fold up or move when not in use. Finally a solution we can all live with!!"

"I ordered this gate from Orvis (my first Orvis purchase) and could not be more pleased. This gate is very solid and absolutely beautiful. My decor is in oak and light cherry and the cinnamon color is a nice compliment. I read several reviews before purchasing this product and I think the key is....know your dogs. I have 3 beagles, all 8 years old. My dogs have alwayd been respectful of "boundaries". They do not try to get out of my fenced yard, nor do they challenge gates inside the home. Since this gate was going to be used to keep them out of the front living room (which has a 70" opening), I wanted something that would look nice but would come down easily when I have company. This gate is perfect. It does sit on carpet which makes it more sturdy and my beagles will lay right next to it but they don't try to get past it. It is a great buy!"

Get a different gate, November 9, 2009
By: Rae1 from Indiana

"I bought this gate a couple years ago to keep my 4 boys out of the kitchen. The gate is beautiful in appearance--unlike most dog gates--and well made. However, it could not contain our dogs. The two Labs, the Scottie and even my 9 lb. Papillon, simply nosed it open at the ends. We screwed it to the walls at the ends to secure it, but then had to remove the center hinge & add casters to the panels to provide access through the gate (this was before the door panel was available @ Orvis). Tried different latches to secure center panel, but none worked, so we had to tie & untie a rope in the center to open/close the gate. Used it this way for about six months, but it was so inconvenient to constantly mess with that darned rope, we finally gave up and took it down. Wish I would have just returned it when I first bought it, rather than mess the whole gate up trying to cobble a more functional one together. It's now collecting dust in the shed. I've gotten many Orvis beds, liners, covers etc...their products are generally excellent, just not this one."

Nice gate, November 4, 2009
By: JATC

"These gates are just what I was looking for. They look good, are not too heavy but also not too lightweight. They are attractive and easy to move around and easy to operate the doors too. I am very happy with them. They are expensive, but worth it compared to other gates that are available."

No Regrets, October 24, 2009
By: bobi

"I needed a heavy duty gate for a large room entry and could not find one in any local retail store. I hesitate to order large items online because if you are dissatisfied with the product returns can be a nuisance. Not the case with this pet gate. It is functional, durable and is as aesthetically pleasing as any favorite piece of quality furniture. I am very happy that I took the risk and ordered it and I would recommend the product."

Great Purchase, October 3, 2009
By: JHollman

"I purchase this gate spring of 2008. I am still very pleased with the appearance and the sturdiness. My American Bulldog and my Rat Terrier have been and still is kept at bay. They do not try to remove it they just sit and wait until I let them thru. Quality product."

Disappointed, September 20, 2009
By: Jamie2

"We bought two medium two-panelled gates and one medium four-panelled gate for our new puppy. We were shocked the first time she simply walked between the slats because she is small. We have since made cross slats of our own with tightly woven Ace wraps, but she creates openings or pulls the gates open by the knots (she weighs just over 4 pounds!) She may never be big enough to be contained by these gates which make our house look like a jail. YOU should have added the cross slats - not us - for that price. I should send you a picture of our very attractive wooden gates, woven with Ace wraps, that do not deter our puppy! Thoughts!?!"
