Good Value, Good Price,

"Just starting out, its great to have opinions from staff that actually spend their spare time enjoying the same sport. The product was more than I expected with features not available in others. The rock protected booties, the full suit, adjustable to pant height was just what I was looking for. My only recommendation would be to provide a set of reinforced rings in the front to attach the suspenders. Currently they attach to a light elastic cord embedded in the top liner. But so far, I'm loving this product."

"Great Wader. Switched to it after my previous silver label started getting little used. I was so upset that the same previous wader was no longer in production and was suggested this new light weight version. Amazing! Same feel but lighter and comfortable, less buggy, perfect match with the Henry's Fork II Premium Wading Shoe. If i could i would wear everything also to go out at night! Looks so cool too.!"

"These are fantastic waders that haven't let me down yet. They breathe as well as a wader can and fit great. They are very durable with no problems kneeling or sitting on rough ground. A great addition to these waders is the capability to fold down the top half and keep them up with the belt which is essential on those hot summer days. These are great waders which I would highly recommend to anyone"

Disappointed,

"I purchased my Silver Label waders in the spring of 2008 after my Clearwater waders finally wore out after 7 years of use.
By the fall of 2008 I was experiencing wet feet with the new Silver Labels and this year has been a constant battle to seal seams around the gravel guards. One foot now stays mostly dry but the other neoprene boot actually fills with water.
Quite frustrating considering I upgraded from my last pair. I would not recommend these waders on the basis of constant wet feet."

"First let me say this was my first time to deal with Orvis and I have to say I am very pleased with how they handled my order. I had ordered the older model of these waders on sale at I think the price paid was 139$ or somewhere close to that. As the shipping date came and went another one was assigned. I called Orvis and they assured me they would be shipped on the next day. That did not happen either. I was on the river bank fishing when I received a call form an Orvis Rep and he asked would I accept this new model at no extra charge and he would overnight ship them also no extra charge. Well of course I said yes. That is the kind of customer service one expects but rarely gets. I have used the waders about a dozen times since receiving them and I do like them very much.....but only time will tell how they will hold up. So far so good. I have washed them once as the front was really dirty from wading in streams after all the rain we had in TN made a lot of the streams a little muddy. I used the recommended procedure and cleaner that Orvis gave in their instructions but they are still dirty. I think the problem is these new front loading washing machines...they just don't clean anything like the old top loaders did....just my opinion. The waders fit me perfect. This is the first pair of waders I have ever owned that actually fit. I am only 5' 10" and weigh 250. Orvis was the only company I found that sold short waders that you did not have to take out a loan to purchase. They have no leaks....they do breath...and they do fit and are comfortable. Orvis sent and e-mail asking for a review but I would like to have waited a few months longer to write it to see how they hold up. I have been told by many that Orvis stands behind their products so I am not really too worried. I will definitely use Orvis for my future needs for fishing apparel and other products."

Tough Enough,

"I have worn these approximately 70 times in 2009 in both the best and worst weather conditions, climbing through bucklebrush, sliding down river banks, and fishing from my knees on abrasive rocks. I couldn't have asked for better perfomance; Not a single tear, leak, or technical issue all summer long. Being a larger guy at 6'1" and 250 lbs, I really put these waders to the test each and every time out; they deserve a medal, as well as a good washing!"

Orvis Repair
"Let me begin by saying that I am a huge fan of Orvis products. I'm sorry that I have to write such a poor review of an Orvis product but I feel that I should. My new Sliver Label Waders have not lived up to the Orvis Brand. I am VERY disappointed in this product. I bought my waders last spring. I was pleased with the appearance of the waders and the features. I fished in them twice and on the third trip the waders were leaking on the inside seam. I understand that waders leak sometimes but surely these waders should last longer than 2 trips! I then sent them to Orvis for repair. I received them back the inside seam was covered with globs of sealer. Not impressed. Now, they're leaking again in the same area and the bottom of the gravel guards look tattered. My waders look like I've dragged them across concrete or something. These waders are poorly constructed out of inferior materials. In my opinion, purchase a different wader. These are NOT worth the $229.00 + tax that I paid for them!"

Orvis Warranty Makes It The Best!,
August 19, 2009

"I had a pair of Clearwater Endura Waders. Over a period of two years, I had two total knee replacements. I still fished. But my waders paid the price falling many times and having many holes and tears. I sent them in with $30 hoping they could be repaired but I knew they couldn't. There was no fault in the waders but abuse due to my situation. Much to my surprise, Orvis sent me a new pair of waders with no questions asked. I certainly didn't expect it. Thank you Orvis and on to the waters!"

"I used them 5 times already since the purchase. These are great comparing to the previous I had. I am fishing in hot weather conditions 80-90F, and I do feel comfortable to fish for 4-5 hours. I have read previous reviews about problem with drainage or something like that. You do not have to worry about it with this ones- this problem was corrected I guess."

Leaking,
July 24, 2009
By:

"At first i was very happy with these waders. They kept me warm, dry and were super comfortable. My first indication that they weren't all I had hoped was when I waded a deep hole and water poured into the "waterproof" pocket. My cell phone was ruined that day. It's clear that beyond rain, the pocket has zero waterproof capabilities. Since then, the seams around the crotch and inner thighs have begun to leak. It's a good thing Orvis has a good return policy. I hope I just got a lemon pair, because they really are great waders when they're working"

"Just when I thought customer service was dead,Orvis totally changed my mind.I now live in Vancouver Wa.I had originally bought my first pair of Orvis waders in Bellevue Wa wich is 160 miles away.So when my waders started to fault, I thought for sure I was up the river with out a paddle. But thanks to the speedy and delightfull Orvis team.I was sent a replacement pair on time for my next steelhead trip. The new Silver Label Waders are sweet for all the applications I put them through.Wether Im spring creek trout fishing, calm belly boat lake fishing, or roaring river winter/summer steelhead fishing. They have yet to fail me.Im completly satisfied, also knowing that Orvis has my back in case of something else that may occur, is totally worth the very valuable amount of only $229.What a deal thanks Orvis!"

Failing Chest Pocket
"I bought these waders early this spring, choosing them because they seemed to combine all the features I was looking for and they carry the Orvis name (I used my last pair of Orvis waders for a good 10 years without major leaks or issues). I was a happy customer and thought I could not go wrong with Orvis. Well, on the first day out with the new waders, the chest pocket seam failed. Not the zipper, the actual pocket was falling off. Orvis replaced them but I had to settle for a different color as the sage color was not going to be available until August. No big deal I thought, stuff happens, maybe a manufacturing defect. My opinion changed yesterday: I am majorly upset to use language that can be published on a website! I was out on the river yesterday (the 5th trip with the new waders) and my small fly-box with about 30 neatly organized flies in it and three rolls of fluorocarbon tippet are no longer in my possession. The chest pocket on this replacement pair failed in exactly the same way as the first pair. The stuff that was in it is floating down the Farmington river! That's not a 1-time manufacturing defect, that's poor design and quality and cost me about $100 aside from the anger and aggravation! If you consider buying these, don't use the chest pocket!!! It's too bad because other than that I found these waders to be comfortable, light-weight and I have stayed dry so far."

The best Orvis waders yet ?,
June 17, 2009

"I recently upgraded to the new Silver Label waders. The redesign has many excellent features, especially the conversion to waist waders. When the top section is tucked in you are not aware of it at all. Being at the top end of the size range for extra large I had to lengthen the braces ( suspenders ) by a couple of inches, easily done with 2 loops of bootlace. It is a pity that these are one of the few Orvis products where the price in £, £229, is the same as the dollar price in the US, $229. I hope this is not the start of a trend."

New Orvis Silver Labels,
June 1, 2009
By:

"I had a older pair of Silver Labels purchased about 5 years ago, and they served me well. I'm a 'moderate' user— traveled a bit, used them on trips to some of those famous western rivers, but mostly fished small spring creeks here in the Midwest. The old SL–2's were light (sure do appreciate that in the hot summer months), comfortable, but I found myself wearing them as waist-highs more often than not. I started looking for a replacement pair and tried on most of the other brands including Simms. I don't know about anybody else, but I would rather spend $500 on a sweet fishing trip than a new pair of waders. Last pair I tried on was the new Silver Label 3's— just arrived at my local Orvis the day before. Couldn't have asked for a better match for my needs. The new SL3's are still lightweight but noticeably weightier and stronger where it counts. Booties are snug and form-fit. And this is pretty cool: the suspenders are slim, lightweight straps with Velcro instead of the bulky plastic clips that seemed to twist and jab your leg when tucked inside. The new straps are unobtrusive when tucked into the back of the pants with the bib rolled down. Speaking of waist-highs, the wading belt is now attached through a belt-sleeve that makes the roll-down conversion clean and comfortable. I've been out on the water a few times and couldn't be happier with them. Best of all, I don't think you can buy a better wader at $229."

Nice Improvements,
April 10, 2009

MrPebblesfrom Roanoke, Va
"These new and improved Silver Label Waders are awesome. The double layer of No Sweat® fabric from the knees down are a good assurance that these waders will last. Also, the seam is at the back of the waders. These seams don't get as much stress as side seams do. Do not forget the waterproof pocket. This pocket keeps my leaders and my fly box dry. It is quite a price jump from the Clearwater Waders to the Silver Label, but the Silver Label Waders definitely make you forget about the price jump after your first use."
