Super Absorbent Therapeutic Bolster Bed

A loyal friend and faithful companion, your older dog deserves to be comfortable. As your dog ages, joint pain and incontinence often become problems. Dog won't get up!, October 27, 2009
By: Outdoorlover from Northeast Iowa

"Originally bought this bed for old dog with back problems. She loved it. New dog won't get up in the morning and will leave us to go up and lay in it. I'm getting another one for downstairs. One problem is the size. A medium is huge. Our dog is a beagle and I will get a small this time. I bought the Deluxe Comfort Couch. Well worth the price. Easy to clean."

Best Purchase Ever, October 26, 2009
By: OceanWaves

"Buddy, our 11 yr old black lab, absolutely loves his bed. He leans up against the back and sometimes hangs his head over the side to look at us. As if to say--"I'm so comfortable guys, thank you!" He's getting some arthritis so this bed is very comforting to him. Thank you for making such a great product!"

Amazing bed but no replacement covers!!, September 24, 2009
By: JamboDog from Scotland, UK

"I bought this bed having only seen it on the internet and took a chance on it, given the fairly high price. I ordered a medium which is plenty big enough for my large dog. She sleeps very soundly on it and her old joints are kept warm and supported. It is amazingly absorbent for when she has an accident and easy to wash and put back together. The only disappointment was that when I purchased it, there was only one colour choice. However, a HUGE downside is that I can't purchase replacement super-absorbent covers for it and the existing one takes quite some time to dry, leaving her without her luxury bed for a night. Why on earth wouldn't you do replacement covers for this great bed like you do for almost all of the rest of your beds - especially given the initial cost of it???"

Not Tough Enough, July 4, 2009
By: laanders from Dallas, TX

"I purchased the version of this bed with the fleece on the bed surface because one of the reviews had stated their two Greyhounds had not damaged it, even though they "dig" before they lay down. However, my two Italian Greyhounds have "dug" out so much fleece since purchasing this in December that I could stuff a teddy bear! I like the design and the size is great, but the cover materials need to be made from much tougher canvas like the "Tough Chew" covers. Because of this problem, I'm very dissatisfied with this dog bed."

Great for Older Dogs, June 18, 2009
By: Anonymous

"We bought this bed for our old Lab. Not only does the memory foam help support his joints, the absorbent cover has been great since he is having problems at night. The perfect bed for a retired hunter. It is easy to take apart, wash and reassemble. So glad we bought it!"

Awesome Bed, June 13, 2009
By: TigersMom from Chapin, SC

"We purchased the therapuetic bolster bed approx one month ago for our 75 lb lab - he loves the bed and we were very pleased with the purchase - Tiger goes around in circles on it until he finds just the right place to lay down - he loves the bolster to lean on. We live on the lake and the dog is out there swimming regularly so it is wonderful to have the absorbent cover.

Thanks Orvis - Tiger loves it and has never slept better!!"

Great Concept, Bad Construction, May 17, 2009
By: Gr8Dane from Atlanta, GA

"I just bought this bed for my Great Dane and when it was delivered I thought it was well worth the price. The bed looks great, the bolster and bed pad seemed to have enough foam/fill and my dog loved it...actually, she didn't ever want to get off of the bed.

Unfortunately, I have to give the bed a fair rating because even though it was positive from all of the points I listed above, the material is too thin and my dog's claw punched through the cover when she went to sit down on it. I would expect Orvis to have a little bit better material on a bed like this for the high price you pay. If you buy this bed know that your dog can easily puncture a hole into it by just walking on it. I really wish this bed was better constructed because I really like the looks and my dog has fallen in love with it over the past 2 days."

Response from Orvis: By Orvis Customer Service Team, July 19, 2009
Orvis contacted this customer and apologized that the Great Dane was able to so easily puncture the fabric. We appreciate all comments from our customers and will check into the quality of this cover. We did offer to exchange or refund this customer, and apologized for any frustration caused by the performance of this dog bed. We also suggested the Tough Chew Bolster Bed as a possible alternative for the Great Dane.

Great Bed, April 30, 2009
By: Anonymous from Honesdale PA

"I have 2 Bassets and a Collie. I purchased the medium size and it is big enough for all 3 of them. Of course they can't all fit on it at once, but for 1 dog, it is more than big enough. The 2 Bassets can somewhat fit on it at the same time, but it is a stretch. I love the fact that this bed has no sheepskin on the top. The fabric is very durable and superior to any bolster beds I have purchased in the past. All of my dogs love the bed and I may spring and buy another one. I know that some have complained about the difficulty in putting the foam back in once the cover is washed. All foam is difficult to work with. A trick that works well is to first insert the foam in a plastic garbage bag, then after the foam is back in the bed, work the bag off the foam. That makes it easier and less of a struggle or try folding the foam in half and then inserting it."

Very disappointed, April 9, 2009
By: Suzzette

"This was the third bed I had purchased in the last
1 1/2 yrs. I was unhappy with the Large therapeutic
bed because of the bed part had shedding particles
and I had to keep a cover on it. I was hoping with this
bed I would not have to keep it covered but the material of this bed attracts the dog hair and does not
let go and is very difficult to clean. I've only had it
a few weeks and the bolster has lost its shape and the the round bed part has large gatherings in it. My yel
lab weighs 93 lbs does like the size to stretch out."

Bed Dog Bed Ever!, April 4, 2009
By: Kaye from Atlanta

"After ordering 2 other bolster dog beds, which I ended up returning, I tried this bed from Orvis. It is wonderful! My elderly dog hesitated on all the others, but not on this one! She ran over to it and wouldn't get up! I spent way too many hours and too much money returning other products from other well-known companies. If only I had started with Orvis. I am sold and have now ordered the rectangle one for my younger dog!
It has stayed clean with little care required. Thanks for creating such a superior product!"

Bigger than I expected, February 20, 2009
By: milamoose

"First of all, please know that the large bed can hold a much larger dog than 80 lbs. My lab is 95 lbs and very tall for a lab and I could easily fit two of him on this bed. He loves the bed and is very happy but I think it is overwhelmingly huge and takes up a lot of our living room. Plus the bolster part of the bed is kind of flimsy and is not as durable as the mattress part. But again, Moose loves his bed and is no longer wanting to get on the couch."

Difficult to assemble after washing, February 10, 2009
By: Dogdad13

"Unless you fix the zipper location, this bed design is nearly impossible to reassemble because of the two layers of foam. The top layer gets all bunched up and there is no way to lay it flat. VERY, VERY frustrating."
