"I purchased this hat for a vacation in Mexico after considering buying a true panama straw hat. This hat provided great coverage and comfort, and I appreciate the fact that it's packable and water resistant. I didn't have to worry about wearing it on a boat. My only negative is that the brim doesn't hold its shape, so the hat doesn't maintain a crisp appearance. That's not a problem for a vacation hat, but I'd be hesitant to wear it on the college campus where I work. For that I'll probably have to go with a true panama."

"I received this as a birthday present from my son (who has great taste) and love it! It has given me a dressier option to take on my vacations over ball caps and looks great too!! It is comfortable and lightweight to wear. I wish I had it for my trips to Aruba!!"

Perfect summer hat.,

"As a melanoma survivor, I am very serious about my shade hats. This is not the first Techstraw hat I have owned. I have worn comfortable, durable, washable Techstraw hats for the past few years. My other Techstraw hats are made by the same manufacturer as my new Orvis packable fedora ,but the Orvis has a finer weave and is more flexible than those I've been wearing. This both makes it very comfortable and gives it a dressier look. My other hats also have a plastic "rod" in the brim, so that while they are crushable and extremely durable, they are not packable. The plastic rod, which does its job of maintaing the brim shape in my other hats, makes the Orvis a "snap brim" hat, giving the wearer the option of trning the brim up or down in the back or all around. The Orvis is the perfect addition to my stock of hats and my new summer favorite ."
