"I got the pig. Cute, adorable, seemed sturdy. Until my cairn terrier took off the pig ears in 5 minutes, then eat through a foot. It's a shame cuz I really liked it, so did he but didn't last."

Destroyed in no time, February 8, 2010
By: Summerhill

"I got the aligator for my Lab at about 6 months old. I never managed to get it to squeak and while I was watching a movie I gave it to her to keep her quiet, by the time the movie was over she not only had a bunch of stuffing out but the squeaker in the mouth was out (and still not squeaking) on the floor.

For the price I could have bought several cheaper toys and they would have lasted longer :<"

"I was SO looking forward to giving this cute piggy the highest rating, but it did not last four days with my two Rhodesian Ridgebacks. I would still recommend buying it if you don't have a dog that is not really diligent at gnawing simply because it really is so darn cute. Too bad it did not last with my dogs as I loved that piggy!"

great expectations, February 4, 2010
By: MountainMama7

"Well, I guess our dogs are the kind who can find a way to get that stuffing out......Radar started with the ears, got those off and then worked a seam until the white stuffing showed. After that, he's happy!!

But to your credit, he did not get a very big hole going and seemed to lose interest. They did carry it around for a couple of days before it started getting holes, so not bad for how rough they are."

Definitely not indestructible, February 4, 2010
By: AnnieTX

"In under 90 minutes, my 13 month old golden retriever chewed off an ear of the pig toy and pulled all the stuffing out. Usually it only takes her 10 minutes, so I guess it was tougher than a normal. Not made for strong chewers."

Not so tough, February 3, 2010
By: Halb

"I had hopes that this toy would be the one that lasted a while. Reuben, my goldendoodle, proved me wrong, again. The stuffing was out within 15 minutes.
However,Orvis' rsponse was great. Despite their not accepting my offer of Reuben's skills to test toys, they did credit me the cost of the toy."

Tough Toy, January 29, 2010
By: Maxim from Connecticut

"Our Vizsla loves to pull and tug with her octopus ToughChew. Despite our dogs best efforts to dig into a seam and get the stuffing out the toy has held up to hours of abuse and is no worse for wear. Well worth the purchase price!"

"Lucy is 11mos. and an avid chewer. When I first saw this product we were very excited. It arrived on Jan. 25, 2010 at aboout 4:30pm. She immediately loved it (that's a good thing), it was adorable! Within an hour the "tail" was off and ears were hanging on for dear life. This photo was taken at 7:30pm...Chew proof...I think not!"

This toy lives up to it's name!, January 18, 2010
By: LabLover2 from East TN

"I purchased this pig for my 95 pound Lab and it has survived 4 days with only minimal tears on the binding! I purchased 3 other toys of this brand about 18 months ago and the squeakers only survived about 5 minutes, however, only the binding is torn on them also. This is the only brand of toys he cannot destroy in about 5 minutes. The only improvement would be to invent squeakers that survive his constant chewing, as he loves the noise! This brand has saved me a lot of money ."

tough chew pig, January 14, 2010
By: sissi from Patterson, N.Y.

"This is our second tough chew toy purchase, and our dog just loves it. Our first was the octopus, and looks as good as the day we received it. I just toss it in the washing machine once a month and it still looks like new. Maggie is a Black lab mix, and had been very tough on previous stuffed animals, so we decided to try tough chew. A good bargain for the price, you and your dog will not be dissapointed."

Totally adorable but easily destroyed, January 11, 2010
By: nekola from New York

"My 7-month old Lab has chewed through the octopus and 2 alligators. The irony is that these are the only toys he's ever destroyed. It's as if the name ToughChew is a dare. I think they are really great looking toys but he unstuffs them pretty darn fast."

Not as tough as billed, January 10, 2010
By: JMR2

"Purchased the alligator for our 14 month chocolate lab for Christmas and he had the noise maker torn out of it by New Years. It is a very tough toy, however it will not make it if your dog is tenacious as ours."

Not tough enough, January 9, 2010
By: Labfamily

"I had high hopes for this toy. I bought the frisbee version in the store. My 90 lb. Lab loved it, but it was way too expensive for the time it took him to shred it.- about an hour! Maybe he can be the test dog for toys touted as "tough.""

Nothing is indestructible!, January 6, 2010
By: Anonymous from Boston MA

"One of my brother's dogs was apparently a surgeon in a previous incarnation, because in a single day he managed to get into all eight legs of the octopus AND the head, cleanly remove the squeakers, and then (because the stiffness comes from a long length of tightly-packed cotton) unspool the stuffing, until all that was left was a limp, empty shell, which he then carried around happily, which I guess is the point - the toy should be the way HE likes it, not the way we humans designed it. We have yet to find a toy or dog bed which he CAN'T prey on, so "your results may differ"!"

"We have a year old black lab that can destroy a dog toy in minutes. Even the ones that claim to be for tough chewers usually will last about three days. Santa brought Lucy the alligator for Christmas and she hasn't been able to chew it apart yet! Also some toys she just picks up and flops around and then loses interest in them, but her alligator seems to be a favorite. Maybe it's the challenge!"

Big Disappointment!, January 1, 2010
By: Anonymous

"We've had several of these toys, and know that a strong chewer can handle most any toy eventually. But our Golden chewed a hole in it in 5 minutes max! The stuffing was gone before Christmas Day was over. It's much too expensive for that kind of durability."

Not quite what we had in mind, December 26, 2009
By: Chilvr

"This pig is much, much bigger than we expected. My mother purchased it for our three dogs for Christmas and it's so big they won't go near it. Also, the tail does not look "chew resistant" at all - - it's just a long, thin piece of material. If they weren't so afraid of it, that tail would be shredded in a matter of minutes. It's not the fun dog toy we hoped it would be, but it makes a good foot rest."

Destroyed Yellow Fish
User submitted photo
"I purchased the yellow fish for my granddog for Christmas. The squeaker and fluff were torn out of the bottom by the end of the day. It probably would have been sooner if I hadn't kept taking it away from the dog. This is the last time I will purchase an animal shape, as they just have too many weak points."
